OUR MATCHING FUND CAMPAIGN IS COMPLETE In just under a month, YOU (our fabulous HCF donors) have joyfully responded to the matching grant challenge for SMD Clinic. By virtue of your generosity and that of our original donor, we have more than $20,000.00 to grant for the clinic support of SMD students and staff ! We are deeply grateful.

A message from Nelha Sangmo and Bal Kumari: Thank you for being an important part of SMD and helping us to create positive change in the life of SMD kids. Your support makes a huge impact on our student’s lives! Administered by Ms. Bal Kumari and Ms. Nelha Sangmo, the SMD Clinic operates with one person always present between the hours of 8:30 a.m and 4:30 p.m. as well as 24 hours a day emergency call service. In addition to attending to illness and injuries, some of their other duties include: intake reports for new students, teaching personal hygiene and sex education. They also train SMD Health Club members so that they can provide rst aid, help to oversee teeth brushing, hand washing, and the overall cleanliness of the school. Bal Kumari was trained in Community Medicine and has been serving SMD for 17 years. Nelha Sangmo graduated from SMD in 2011, completed Health Assistant Training and worked for some time in the community health center in Bhi village in Nubri, before returning to SMD where she has served for the past 8 years. Please Note: If you have sent a donation that we have not yet received there is no need to be concerned. Though the amount will not be matched, your contribution will still provide much needed support for the SMD clinic.
