Himalayan Children’s Fund News

Dear Friends,

We have a small newsletter for you this month. Yarne has come to a close, and in observance of Thrangu Rinpoche’s passing, there will be no holiday trips this year. Shedra and chanting nuns will each have a 10 day break where they can remain and rest or visit family before classes resume while SMD and SMDBS are continuing as usual. Many thanks for your kind support.

HCF needs your help to inspire new sponsors and donors so we can continue to grow and fulfill Thrangu Rinpoche’s wishes. Please help us out by giving us a great review. It is easy to share your special story of connection on: Great NonProfits

100TH DAY OBSERVANCE FOR THRANGU RINPOCHE

ATTENTION SMD SPONSORS ~

As you are aware, the pandemic shut down the Nepali postal service and for a few years we have been unable to send letters from students to their sponsors. Now that the postal service is operating again, we have been eagerly awaiting the lovely letters and new school photos. Unfortunately, though thoughtfully prepared, I am sorry to report that the letters did not make it to the US destination. All we received was the outer packaging! New letters are being written, but will take a bit of time. By now, you must be accustomed to waiting, however, we do thank you for your patience and understanding!

Tara Abbey nuns organized prayers at the Swayambhunath Stupa in Kathmandu to observe the 100th day of Thrangu Rinpoche’s parinirvana, It was a beautiful, 2 hour service with 400 monastics and 100 lay people in attendance. Hover for video

SMD BOARDING SCHOOL

Dharma classes at SMD are conducted every Tuesday at the conclusion of the academic day. All students, from class 5 to 10, attend the 45 to 60 minute class which is taught by Lopen Tenzin Rinchen and Lopen Tsultrim Norbu, (monks on the SMD teaching staff). Each class begins with a 10-minute meditation and they are currently learning the "Thirty Seven-Fold Practice of a Bodhisattva" by Ngulchu Thogme Zangpo. The teachers are happy with the class and the interest shown by the students. Hover for videos.
