SHREE MANGAL DVIP BOARDING SCHOOL EXPANDS CLASS OFFERINGS AND CELEBRATES GRADUATES

Since its beginning, SMD has offered a government approved K-10 education. As with all such schools, students wishing to pursue further education have needed to attend a different institution for grades 11 and 12 (often referred to as Plus 2 or College) before attending University. It has been a long-time dream to offer 11 and 12 at SMD and recently, government approval was given, courses planned, teachers hired and now, the first classes for grade 11 have just begun. Next year ~ 12!
On August 15, SMD held a program to inaugurate and welcome Class 11 students and to celebrate the 40 members of the 2023 graduating class. Chöje Lama, several Khenpos and the Chairman of Boudha, Bhuwan Lama, were in attendance and gave each graduate a framed photo of Thrangu Rinpoche along with their diploma. Lama Karma Sangpo (SMD Principal) has expressed admiration and pride in the students and feels that in addition to achieving excellent exam results, they have demonstrated unwavering dedication, hard work, and perseverance. (5 students excelled with an A+, 18 students with an A grade, 15 students received a B+ and 2 students attained a B.) Congratulations and best wishes to all!

SMDBS
Branch school classes have resumed and the 98 monks enrolled in grades K-6 are enjoying freshly painted classrooms.

5 Recent SMD grads, (3 lay and 2 monastic) were welcomed by Khenpo Chonyi and Lama Karma Phurbu as they begin their year of service to the school and monastery. Phurba Sangpo Sherpa, Ukesh Magar, and Dorje Sherpa, along with Karma Tenzin and Pasang Tashi (monks) will be teaching and leading a variety of activities while also gaining experience and broadening their own knowledge. A gift of chocolates from Lama Dawa so delighted the young monks that they sang their thanks!
