The Audited Financial Statement has been uploaded to our website and our Form 990 is available on the Guidestar and IRS websites, or by request. VAJRA VIDYA INSTITUTE In May, the monks of VVI participated in the observance of Vesak (Buddha’s birth, enlightenment and parinirvana) at the Mahabodhi Temple in Sarnath. Monks and nuns from different buddhist traditions shared in the day of prayers and lectures. A rare ceremonial procession brought the sacred Buddha relics (enshrined at the temple) out for public veneration. In the evening, Khenpo Gendun was one of several speakers giving public dharma talks to the 2,000 attendees. Hover and click for videos.

SHREE MANGAL DVIP BOARDING SCHOOL
At the end of May, SMD teachers attended a 3 day teacher training at Hotel Tibet in Boudhanath. Led by Mr. Midesh and Ms. Sadikshya of Rato Bangala Foundation, the focus of the workshop was Child Centered Teaching/ Learning Practices. Meals were provided and the teachers worked together in groups, engaged in a variety of teaching activities and made presentations. All received certi cates and we have comments from a few teachers regarding their experience. TEACHER COMMENTS: Saru Karki, Class 4A: The training was based on child-centered teaching-learning practices which were very helpful for me as I teach in a junior class. Through this program, I also got an opportunity to work closely with my colleagues. Additionally, the training taught me to introduce group work and new activities in the classroom. Teachers were offered a wide range of mathematical tricks, games and skills to manage the class. Such type of training should be conducted every year. Lopen Tenzin Rinchen, Tibetan Department Head: The teacher training really helped me to boost my con dence and to work in a team. Through this training, I learned to prepare a job chart and classroom agreement chart for my class in better ways. I also found out many new activities and games to conduct inside and outside the class to make the class vibrant and interesting. Similarly, I methodically learned to plan, organize and lead a eld trip program. After the training, I personally felt it is very important to learn and know all three languages; English, Tibetan, and Nepali to communicate well with students and colleagues.

The Branch School for monks recently welcomed new teachers with khatas, including a volunteer from Mexico who will help to teach English; and an inter-house basketball competition between Marpa, Mila and Gompa was just as enjoyable for the spectators (younger students) as it was for the players. TARA ABBEY During this auspicious month of Sagadawa, the nuns performed a week long Chakrasamvara drupchen which concluded with a re offering puja.
