Dear Friends,
Himalayan Children’s Fund News
SMD is back in session after Winter Break, the Kagyu Monlam has come to a close and the Arya Kshema for nuns has begun.
While celebrations for Losar are still on hold for three years in honor of Thrangu Rinpoche’s passing, the rituals and prayers continue. The annual Mahakala Puja for removing negativity, dispelling obstacles and generating positivity for all beings will conclude on the last day of the lunar year ~ February 27th.
Please enjoy the stories and photos.
With thanks for your kind support and best new year wishes.

SMD
School is back in session after the winter break and students and teachers alike were delighted to return to freshly painted dorm and class rooms. (Thanks to the SMD match!) On February 18, Chöje Lama officiated a ground breaking ceremony for a new building to replace the old and precarious D Block which is currently the girls dorm.

SMD ANNUAL SPORTS MEET 2025
Before parting on January 18th for winter break, SMD students enjoyed two exciting days of sports, entertainment and recreation. Pre-sports day, full of fun and games, was followed by Sports Day. Each of the competing houses had a ‘March Pass’ accompanied by the school band, the Karate class performed and the music teacher wrote a lovely song and performed with the students.
