Himalayan Children’s Fund News Dear Friends, Yes, there’s still time to make a 2022 charitable donation! As always, donations can be made by sending a check, (payable to Himalayan Children’s Fund) to our address below or by using a credit card or PayPal on our website donation page. We also would like to suggest including a little extra in your annual or monthly donations to support the day to day functioning of HCF. (The category for this on our donation page is Annual Fund.) We have never taken a percentage from sponsorship or speci cally named donations and have preferred to cover our expenses from annual fund donations and other sources such as what we raise from PayPal Giving Fund, Amazon Smile and others. We also have support when needed from the interest earned on our investment fund. Keeping HCF a oat is as important as any other donation! MONASTIC ACHIEVEMENTS During the recent monastic convocation at Namo Buddha, Shedra graduates were presented Ka Rabjampa Certi cates, and Lama Certi cates were given to those who have completed the traditional 3-year retreat. Offerings were made and all the monks and nuns received Rinpoche’s blessing. In a a separate ceremony during the Tsedrup, ve monks were enthroned as Khenpos.

Thrangu Rinpoche’s 91st birthday celebration was sponsored by Thrangu Dharmakara and arranged by Khenpo Dawa and Khenpo Tengye. A 3-day White Tara Drupchen preceded the festivities which were held under a tent erected on the roof of SMDBS. Three Khenpo’s gave speeches, one each in Tibetan, English and Chinese, honoring Rinpoche and sharing his biography. SMD students sang a welcoming song and performed 4 cultural dances for an audience of 1,500. The Mayor of Namo Buddha Municipality, Mr. Kunssng Lama attended as did a representative of WWF. Raju Lama, a well-known Nepali singer gave a special performance singing 3 Tibetan songs, including his recently released song for Thrangu Rinpoche which can be seen in full on YouTube. From November 22 to 30th, students and teachers alike were deeply engrossed in their mid-year examinations and the concentration is obvious in the top row of photos! The students then prepared a cultural dance program and performed during Rinpoche’s birthday celebration at Namo Buddha on December 3rd, and on the 9th the school had a special day with Thrangu Rinpoche. Teachers, students and staff traveled in the early morning back up to Namo Buddha to present a Ku Sung Tuk offering and receive blessing from Rinpoche. It was also an opportunity have a graduation ceremony for the 31 students of the 26th batch to graduate from SMD. Congratulations all!
