04 Multi-Generational Housing asked to design housing for an extended family that in-cludes three generations on a site located in South crest, a south-eastern San Diego neighborhood whose population is predominantly black and Latinx. Although some groups have a long history of multi-generational living, there are insufficient resources on the design of multi-generational households In an American context.

Your design must con-sider many of the unique conditions that residents face in this specific urban context. This project will require both an understanding of the design issues common to all people and an in-depth exploration of unique client needs.

11 Cells, Corridors, and Courts Mutation process of Gabr Abad Caravansary, integrating a second floor and a new staircase that accentuates the central courtyard.

Focus on analyzing and transforming a historic Caravansary. The process began with the development of detailed drawings that captured the essence of the original design.

Subsequently, a second floor was added to the structure, enhancing the structure, enhancing the spatial experience and functionality of the Caravansary.

As the project transitioned to individual work, a fragment of the building was selected for further exploration, leading to the design of a unique staircase. This staircase was skillfully crafted to create immersive experiences and highlight the significance of the central courtyard. Throughout the project, careful attention was given to the integration of architectural elements, spatial sequences, and the balance between solid and void, resulting in a thoughtful reinterpretation of the Caravansary while preserving its historical context.

15 Student Housing The San Diego Community College District is seeking architectural proposals for a student housing development at Mesa Community College. Mesa Housing East will serve qualified students of the Mesa College campus.

The Student Housing project’s purpose is to house community college students with a design that encourages vitality, inclusivity, and safety. Located on the edge of San Diego Mesa College Campus, across Rivera De Villa Apartments and west of Armstrong Street. This makes Mesa Housing East the landmark of the student experience, therefore calling for students and their needs while studying at Mesa College.

Locates areas for outdoors and indoor community engagement. Positioning circulation on the west to take advantage of the view on the east for units and private open space.

Create clarity throughout the building with the order of rhythm. The proposal contains 20 Units in four styles: One bedroom, Two Bedroom, Two Bedroom townhouse, and three-bedroom townhouse.

25 Children’s Park To practice using the circles on circles theme.

Using circles, the proposal offers a unique design for a Children’s Park project. Each circle designates a separate area for everyone who visits the park. A bridge crosses through the playground of the park which allows potential kinetic play equipment that uses nets to climb up to the bridge, ziplines are placed through between the bridge. The project was rendered with color pencils and drafted with hand drafting tools.

26 Residential Site Design To apply your site design, drawing, and color rendering experience gained this semester to create an exterior site plan for an existing residence. Your d design s hall include hard scape, soft scape, site f furnishings, and o ther exterior features that you will be designing for your client.

Using skills learned in ARCH 173 and ARCH 220, the propos-al for a Residential Site Design was created to take advan-tage of all the spaces within the property line. The project was rendered with colored pencils and drafted with hand drafting tools.
