Welcome
to the May issue of the
Sprotbrough Arrow Plans are in place to celebrate the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee in June. Sprotbrough & Cusworth Parish Council have organised a Lighting of the Beacon event which will be held at Cusworth Hall on Thursday 2nd June from 6pm onwards. There is more information in this month’s Arrow. Everyone is encouraged to organise a street party on Sunday 5th June. Christians Together in Sprotbrough have organised a Jubilee Lunch at Sprotbrough Methodist Church starting at 12 noon on the Sunday. We would love to see your photos, please email them to me before 15th June if you are happy to share. Great to see the Parish Council and volunteers out litter picking in Cusworth. The Scouts were also out in Sprotbrough, what an amazing effort from everyone involved.
Thank you to Richmond Hill Primary school for sharing their news and photographs, it is always such a joy to see what everyone is up to and a great reminder of normality. The June issue deadline is Wednesday 18th May. The magazines will be delivered the last full weekend in May. Best Wishes Michelle Sidebottom Tel: 07795 387937 michelle@arrowpublications.co.uk arrowpublications.co.uk

RICHMOND HILL PRIMARY ACADEMY
Egg-cited for Easter As Richmond Hill unfortunately had to cancel Christmas performances last year, our school community was excited to be welcomed back inside school for a week long of Easter performances instead. Each year group from nursery to Y6 took to the stage and they did not disappoint with wonderful songs, poems and learning on display. A fantas c event enjoyed by all. Egg-cellent Fundraising We are very proud of our school ambassadors who organised this year’s Easter raffle. Tickets have been sold all around school for chocolate prizes and the grand prize of the Richmond Easter Bunny. Well done to our winner Ellie-mae in Y1 and to our Ambassadors, Eliza and Mylo, for helping to raise a fabulous £655. Their project this year is to fund an outdoor gym to keep everyone healthy in body and mind. Egg-cep onal Compe on Our Key Stage 2 decorated egg compe on this year was eggcellent! Some amazing ideas celebra ng our local area as well as popular people and films. Extremely crea ve and we loved viewing them all. Well done to everyone who took part.

Finding their way Our Year 1 children have had a brilliant me in the school grounds with Forest Kind Educa on. Learning the valuable skills of map and compass reading through orienteering ac vi es. Finding Sprotbrough or Sprotborough? An absolutely fantas c visit to the new Danum Museum in Doncaster was had by our Recep on children on their first ever coach trip. They had a wonderful me taking part in the Dinosaur workshops to link with this term’s topic. We love this picture of them finding where in Doncaster they live.

RETIRED? DU3A is for you The Doncaster U3A Local History Group visited Yorkshire Aircraft Museum for their monthly meeting in April. A talk by Ian Kingsnorth about Doncaster having held the first aviation show in the UK in 1909 was well received, with various photographs of the event. Sixteen members attended and after the talk, went around the exhibition areas. Apart from this group the Doncaster U3A offer more than 30 interest groups for various tastes, some examples are skittles, art, walking cricket, literature, various language groups, and dining out, and many others. If you find this of interest and would like more information please visit the DU3A website https://u3asites.org.uk/doncaster or telephone our membership secretary 07735436176

MAY UPDATE Hi again, By the time you read this Easter will be long gone and we are looking at the May fixtures where we have just the two notices, the Forget Me Not Café and a plea for help. In addition, because the Queen’s Jubilee is right at the start of June and there is a lot of joint organisation going on for the Big Jubilee lunch to be held at the Sprotbrough Methodist Church (SMC), I have included it on this month’s Christians Together in Sprotbrough page.
