Local boy, Jack Gray who is a mere 5 years old will be walking 3.5 miles from the cenotaph in Bennetthorpe through the town centre up to the cenotaph in Sprotbrough village on Saturday 30th April. All of this is in aid of his favourite charity, help4heroes. Jack was inspired after he attended the Remembrance Day parade in town and wanted to do something to help our soldiers. He is doing all the organising himself and has a website for sponsors. https://www.bmycharity.com/V2/5yearoldjackswalk Jack also has a facebook page (5 year old jacks walk) which his Mum keeps updated showing the amount he has raised to date. Jack is also doing car boot sales so if anybody would like to donate items for the car boots he would appreciate it. Well done, Jack, we hope you raise a lot of money.

Skincare Make up Nails Skincare Make up Nails Dear Reader, Spring is on the way thank goodness and I think we are all definitely ready for it! Sunshine and warm weather will be very welcome after such a cold winter. Mother's day - Sunday April 3rd - will be the perfect time to express your gratitude and love to your mum, mother-in-law or that special female someone in your life - and what better way to show your appreciation than with a beauty gift voucher? A little 'me time' is a thoughtful gift to give and a wonderful gift to receive, be it in the form of a relaxing massage or facial, a pampering manicure or pedicure, a single treatment or a multi-treatment beauty package, selected from the extensive range of treatments that we offer.

Happy Mother’s Day

Q:

My skin looks lifeless and dull after the winter months. Is there anything you can suggest to improve it?

A: HOME TREATMENT - Wash your face with your usual soap-free cleanser to remove all traces of make-up and debris. Mix a tablespoon of olive oil with a teaspoon of sugar and, using small circular movements, apply the mixture over the face for 2-3 minutes. Mix a tablespoon of honey with oats and apply in a thick layer all over the face and neck then place two circles of cucumber on your eyelids and lie down and rest for ten minutes. Rinse off and apply your usual moisturiser.

A:

SALON TREATMENT - There are many facial treatments which benefit both the

skin‘s appearance and its feel. They involve the use of paramedical products with botanical ingredients and include a facial peel, massage to stimulate the blood circulation, bringing oxygen and nutrients to the skin whilst removing carbon dioxide and waste products, and the application of a mask to nourish and feed the skin. Although facial treatments can be costly, the many less expensive ones are deservedly recommended and will improve the tone and feel of your skin and increase your feel-good factor without depleting your purse.

March’s Beauty Quote 'For beautiful eyes, look for the good in others, for beautiful lips, speak only words of kindness; and for poise, walk with the knowledge that you are never alone.' Audrey Hepburn

News Young Voices 2011 Young Voices this year was even better than last year. It was just amazing! Anyone who didn‘t go missed out on a huge opportunity! Unfortunately, we had to wait a while for this amazing occasion because of the snowy weather. So, instead of December, we went on the 26th of January. Having to wait just added to the buzz and excitement. The conductor was fantastic- he taught us at the same time as making us laugh. We sang our hearts out and, afterwards, our throats were red raw but it was definitely worth it! Spending the quality time with your classmates and teachers, outside of school, is really exciting. It was just a phenomenal experience. Elisha 6He Thanks to everyone involved for a good job well done, and for representing us so well.

Indoor Athletics at Ridgewood

On the 18th of January Copley Junior School entered an athletics competition at Adwick Leisure Centre. We competed against three other schools in the area (Barnburgh, Richmond Hill and Saltersgate). There were several events which Copley battled through to victory and, because of our hard work; we managed to achieve a Bronze medal for overall points. We displayed great teamwork and were proud to represent Copley. It was fantastic! Summer, Darcy and Elliott 6He

Bronze medal position for our intrepid athletes!

Who are The Missing Pages? Two Doncaster lads from Sprotbrough, best mates with one Guitar and one voice they love music diverse and extreme. Oh and it just so happens that they are brothers! With a stripped down sound it feels like you are on a one to one with the band personally, this is what they strive for at every gig, in every recording. It is from the heart. James is the vocalist and lyricist, eldest of the brothers at 20. He has his own unique vocal style and pattern – a bit Bolan, a bit Ferry, a bit Bowie, a bit different – in a good way! Lyrics are his domain, like searching a seabed for lost treasure he dives the deepest depths and crafts as careful as any sculpture. Always looking for new ways to improve his technique each song is unique and arranged in such a way it takes on an almost dreamlike quality. KP is only 16 but he is the whole of the band, one guitar to fill the entire of the stage with music – and he does it so well with a maturity not normally associated with youth but retaining all the qualities of innocence......listen to their own song ―Cure‖ a beautiful rolling riff that fires stress from your bones like a bolt from a crossbow! They perform a mixed set of covers and their own songs (…and covers of covers) done their own way with a twist on the original. Doncaster Advanced Motorists Driving Hazards Dear readers, A hazard is anything that contains an element of potential danger. That includes junctions, roundabouts, hillcrests and bends, as well as the position and movement of other road users and even the weather. Imagine combining all six of these elements in one scenario and you have a massive potential for danger. To an Advanced Driver, any junction, say a roundabout, traffic lights or a left or right turn, is a hazard, not just a child running into the street, a blind bend or an accident black spot. This means that it is essential for you to position your vehicle correctly when dealing with them, giving you that one essential safety ‗ingredient‘ sufficient time to react. To minimise your chances of being affected by other peoples mistakes or adverse driving conditions you must take a planned and systematic approach to your driving. What is Commentary Driving: Commentary driving- describing aloud everything you see, think and do whilst driving- is a great way to hone your driving technique. On a busy road or in an urban environment you‘ll often find there is so much going on that you can‘t describe it all quickly enough – you simply can‘t keep up verbally. This proves how many thought processes a vigilant driver goes through on an everyday drive. Commentaries illustrate how much you are really seeing and the level of thinking involved, not just your actions. Driving Plans: The three simple questions. What can be seen? Plan your drive on what you can see ahead, to the rear, and all around you. What cannot be seen? Remember that danger can exist on every hidden section of the road What might reasonably be expected to happen? Keep a look-out for clues to dangers that may lay ahead, eg: Junction warning signs give early notice that a driver may be waiting to pull out ahead. Dustbins outside houses on a twisty road mean that there could be a stationary dustbin lorry around the next bend. Loose hedge clippings or straw on a country road, warn that there could be a slow moving tractor or combine harvester round the next bend. Don‘t follow buses to closely or you may get stuck behind them when they pull up at the next stop. Drop back a little and keep a lookout for the next stop, as it provides advanced warning of an opportunity to pass. Prioritise hazards in order of importance. Deal with each one accordingly. With these potential hazards in mind drive within the limits of what you can see, never assume anything and plan for danger to emerge from obscured areas. If you are interested in the courses that we offer, you‘ll be able to find this information on the Institute of Advanced Motorists website at www.iam.org.uk or Tel: 020 8996 9600 Safe Driving Paul Tuke. Doncaster Freegle Free Giving, Locally, Easily has opened... Just because there‘s something you don‘t want any more, does that mean nobody else would want it? And whilst you didn‘t get that bread maker for Christmas, there might someone just round the corner be just about to Freegle theirs? Free-what? Freegle puts people who have stuff they don‘t need in touch with people who need stuff they don‘t have. You join your local online group (on Yahoo or Facebook), and post a message describing what you want to get rid of, or what you‘re looking for. People who reply, and you sort out collection or delivery between you. Simple, convenient, and entirely free – free to join, free to use, and everything on it is a free gift. It saves money, effort, and the planet all at the same time. It sounded a bit too good to be true, so I spoke to Tracy Rennison, one of the volunteers who helps run the new Doncaster group. ―The thing is,‖ she explained, ―you can Freegle for all sorts of reasons. You might be passionate about the environment or you might just not want the hassle of arranging a special uplift. You might be short of cash or you might just decide your old curtains don‘t work in your new flat. We‘ve all looked at something and thought ‗It‘s a shame to throw that away‘ – so don‘t, give it away instead.‖ So what kinds of things get Freegled? ―I‘ve seen it all: baby clothes, crockery, exercise bikes, 3 tons of topsoil, washing machines, even to a ball of elastic bands and a bag of paperclips, pretty much anything you can imagine that‘s free and legal.‖

There are 288 Freegle groups, with more than 1.1 million members spread all across the UK. The Doncaster group is a new addition to the National Organisation and more springing up all the time. They‘re all run by volunteers who just want to help their local community. What‘s the catch? Well, there‘s no guarantee that you can get rid of something, or get what you‘re looking for. Occasionally people won‘t turn up, so it‘s best not to give something to the first person to reply, but take your time choosing, and get a phone number. But surely there are some things which nobody would want? ―What I‘ve learnt is that you can‘t predict it‖, Tracy says. ―I have heard of 300 old wine-bottle corks being offered and someone took them and made them into notice boards. Some people take broken computers, fix them up, and re-offer them – just because they like tinkering. Floorboards that have just ripped up come in handy to make a raised vegetable bed. So instead of deciding that nobody would want something, just offer it up and see. Try it – what do you have to lose, apart from your clutter?‖. You can find your local group at http://ilovefreegle.org. The Doncaster group is at http://freegle.in/Doncaster
