As the warmth of spring breathes new life into our community, we find ourselves surrounded by reasons to celebrate. This month, we honor the incredible mothers among us with Mother’s Day.
Mother’s Day is a cherished occasion that allows us to recognise and appreciate the mothers, grandmothers, and mother figures who shape our lives with their love, wisdom, and unwavering support. We are surrounded by remarkable women who not only nurture their families but also contribute to the betterment of our community. Whether through volunteer work, small business ownership, or simply offering a helping hand to friends and neighbours, their presence is invaluable. Let’s take this opportunity to celebrate them with heartfelt gestures, whether it be a handwritten note, a shared meal, or a quick phone call.
As we move forward into this vibrant season, let us celebrate the bonds of family, the strength of our community, and the beauty that surrounds us.
Happy Mother’s Day to all the wonderful mums, and here’s to a spring filled with joy, growth, and togetherness!
Best wishes

DONCASTER ROWING CLUB
As the Learn to Row Coordinator at Doncaster Rowing Club, and a resident of Sprotbrough, I wanted to share some information about our Rowing Club.
As we all look to get fitter and healthier, or remain fit and healthy, have you ever considered rowing? Doncaster Rowing Club are offering Learn to Row courses which are available to adults in 2025.
We are running three courses this year, each one is over a 6 week period on a Saturday morning at Doncaster Rowing Club, based at Hexthorpe Park.
Absolutely no experience necessary - over the years, we’ve welcomed everyone, from the nervous and the unfit to those ticking off a bucket list. The course is also perfect for anyone who used to row and would like to get back into the sport. Our friendly and fully equipped rowing club is ready for all levels and offers a safe and supportive environment to get started.
Over the 6 week course, participants will learn the fundamentals of rowing, gain confidence in rowing skills, become fitter, and enjoy the incredible experience of being on the water. Additionally, they will learn about boats and oars, practise proper posture and boat handling, and understand health and safety protocols. Training takes place both on our rowing machines and on the surprisingly scenic River Don.
The Learn to Row Course costs £99.
Our 2025 dates are as follows:
• Course 1: Saturday 26th April to Saturday 31st May 2025
• Course 2: Saturday 21st June to Saturday 26th July 2025
• Course 3: Saturday 16th August to Saturday 20th September 2025
Each course runs for 6 weeks from 10:30 - 12:30 and will have a maximum of 12 places and can be booked by emailing ltr2row.drc@gmail.com stating your preferred Course 1, 2 or 3.
Further details can be found on the Doncaster Rowing Club Websitewww.doncasterrowingclub.com

Pupils in Year 5 were given the fantastic opportunity to participate in an Arts International Event in partnership with the Cast Theatre and our feeder secondary Ridgewood School.
