We are well into the Easter holidays now and we hope you are having a great Easter what ever you are doing. We hope you have had chance to visit the local attractions; The Yorkshire Wildlife Park and Boston Park to name but a few.

The Bactrian camel gave birth to a healthy calf on March 6th.

Community News St. Martin's Church, Owston Ferry 9.15 1st April - Easter morning - Holy Communion 9.15 8th April - Morning Prayer 9.15 15th April - Morning Prayer and Baptism.

9.15 22nd April - Holy Communion 10.45 Deanery Service at St. Andrew's Epworth.

On Friday 20th April at 8pm come along to the White Hart, Owston Ferry where there is to be an Auction of Promises to raise funds for St. Martin's Church internal decorations. Bids wanted to secure many great donations including 2 hours gardening, home made puddings for a special event, a day on a narrowboat as as well as many other lots.

Haxey Methodist Church are holding a Beetle Drive at Stephen Jones Community Hall on Thursday, 26th April at 7. 30 p.m.

Entry fee is £3.00 and includes refreshments

There will be a raffle

Craft Fair and Table Top sale on Saturday 14th April 11-2 Haxey Memorial Hall. Raising money for Haxey Pre school thank you so much. All welcome.

Community News Are you interested in getting more involved in your local community?

Haxey Memorial Hall is at the centre of the village, is used by many groups and is run by volunteers.

We usually meet on the first Thursday every other month for about an hour and a half and our meetings are fairly informal! We would really welcome some new faces to our team so if you have a little time to spare and are interested in joining us or, in the first instance, finding out what we do then please come along to our

A.G.M. at 7 o’clock in the Hood Room at the Hall on Thursday 3rd May. We look forward to seeing you there!

Isle Group of the Lincolnshire Wildlife Trust Thursday April 5th Members annual photographic night This is always a popular evening when anyone can bring along a small selection of photographs to share with the group and tell the story behind them. These can be on any topic which interests you, not necessarily to do with wildlife. It could be an interesting place you have visited or something you have seen, either locally or further afield, you just need to bring them on a memory stick. There will also be a very short AGM beforehand.

Unfortunately due to the snowy weather the March meeting had to be cancelled but we hope to arrange for Charlie Barnes to tell us about beetles at a later stage.

All our indoor meetings are held on the first Thursday of the month in the Stephen Jones Hall at the rear of the Methodist Chapel in Haxey on Low Street at 7.30pm. We look forward to seeing all regular members and new visitors, everyone is welcome. There is a small charge of £1 and there is a raffle and refreshments.

Don’t forget that bird food is always on sale at our indoor meetings and at Chris Trinder's house in Belton, at very competitive prices, just ring if you need anything. Community News

Successful Concert by Joint Isle Choirs

The concert held in St Andrew’s Parish Church Epworth 24th February 2018 by The Isle Choral and guest choir The St Cecilia Singers raised in excess of £400 for the charity “Wish Upon a Star”.

The choirs joined together for some numbers and many compliments were made on the composition

by Musical Director, Robert Fields, of “Pie Jesus” when the St Cecilia Singers were “echoing” the Isle Choral in the wonderful Ringers Gallery in the church as part of the restoration work.

Robert Fields gave a vote of thanks to Barbara Tune and her singers for their enthusiasm, Linda Lawcock from the charity and all the other people involved in the background.

This was the first venture by the Choral Singers to invite another local choir to join us with the varied programme enjoyed by all so, in view of its success the committee of the Isle Choral have invited “Take Note” choir from Haxey to join us on 25th March in St Nicholas Church, Haxey, when the programme includes Faure’s Requiem and a supporting programme of popular music.

For anyone interested in finding out more about the Isle Choral Singers please check us out on facebook, website or telephone enquiries to 01427 871485. Rehearsals are held every Monday from 7.00 pm in the Imperial Hall, Epworth.

Spring is nearly upon us and Epworth Bowls Club is preparing for the new bowling season. We are a small, friendly and active club, founded in the 1930s and lour season starts from 1st May to 30th August.

Our activities vary from league matches, internal competitions, visiting other clubs for days out.

We have a gala in June and enjoy some very good fun days with our members.

Bowling is not just for the elderly and we would like to welcome and encourage new members to join us; from children under 12 years.

WE have a ‘roll-up’ every Monday morning at 11am (weather permitting) and hope too begin a Sunday afternoon meet up.

This lovely boy is Charlie, a 6 year old Rottweiler cross Mastiff who has just come into the Rescue.

Charlie is a very affectionate dog who loves people and loves his walks. He is good with other dogs and would be fine in a home with older children. Charlie is just one of our many dogs of different breeds and sizes who are all looking for a new home. Our adult dogs are neutered, fully vaccinated and micro-chipped. Potteric Carr Nature Reserve On Wednesday 21st of Febuary we went to Potteric Carr Nature Reserve, we went pond dipping we managed to catch a Stickle Back fish and a water scorpion. We learned all about the water cycle and how to keep our water clean.

Mother’s Day For Mother’s Day we will be making heart shaped posies out of silver birch twigs and daffodils, we will be taking them to church with us for the Mothers day service at St Pancras Church.

Bulb Planter and Bench The Yorkshire Wildlife Trust have visited the school to dig a pond in the field, there will also be water plants and a few tadpoles they also coming to build a planter for flowers to make our entrance look nice.

Peace Garden In R.E were building a peace garden to relax in.
