Welcome to the September issue of the Epworth and Belton Arrow. Exam results were out in the Summer! I hope everyone out there achieved the results they wanted and moved on to pastures new successfully. What a strange year! This time last year who would have thought we would be in the situation we are in now! I am sure you will all agree home schooling, whilst for me was quite a novelty to begin with, became hard work. I am hoping for a successful transition for my son in to year 9 and my daughter at university.

If anyone managed to get away in the Summer, whether abroad or in the UK I hope you had a lovely break. It was touch and go for a lot of us booking flights, cancelled flights then the prospect of a 14 day quarantine! Lets hope the travel industry is in a better place in 2021! Last year the Isle of Axholme car show was a great success. This year it’s going virtual! This is becoming a common factor in our daily lives of ‘stay at home entertainment’. If anyone would like to share their virtual events, please be in touch, The Arrow is looking forward to receiving your news articles and any social distancing events or virtual events you may have. Keep your articles coming in. Its important to keep the community spirit going! The deadline for the October issue is Tuesday 15th September for delivery by Sunday 4th October..

Results Day 13th August 2020 John Leggott College We would like to congratulate all John Leggott College students and learners across the country receiving their results today. “I am very proud of all my students. They have had the most diverse experience in our 50 year history. They have throughout, however, been fantastic in such a difficult time,” says our Principal, Leon Riley. We appreciate this year has been somewhat different but students’ efforts throughout their two years of studying with us at JLC still remains reflective of their outcomes and grades they have received today. The overall college results are exceptionally strong, with increases in A*A, A*-B with 1 out of every 2 students at A Level receiving high grades. In BTEC subjects, 9 out of every 10 students achieved a Distinction or a Distinction*. We have seen particularly strong results in 3D Design, Fashion & Textiles, Maths, Chemistry, Physics to name a few. We would like to congratulate all our students who have positive destinations, with 5 students securing places at Oxford or Cambridge University. The College has seen some changes from the teacher predicted grades, and the one received by students this morning. Principal Leon Riley said “The vast majority of our learners received, the grades we predicted and we are in a better position than many colleges. However, my main priority is to secure the grades that I believe my students truly deserve. We will be working with students on appeals when government guidance is announced.” We cannot confirm the process for autumn exams, however the government will be looking at support packages to support schools and colleges with this; we will keep our students updated through our website. Our Careers and Progression Team are available for 12 months after our students leave, to access support around employment and universities. It definitely has been a strange results day as normally we celebrate a great day of success together, however this year our activities and support is virtual. On behalf of our senior leadership team, a huge thank you to all staff who have worked incredibly hard to progress onto positive destinations and adapt fantastically during the current climate. We would like to wish our 2020 leavers all the best of luck in the future and we will be inviting you all to celebrate in safer times in the future. Stay in touch.

Why do I need my lawn treating? Lawns usually make up the largest part of a property and yet often, the most neglected. A house without a good lawn is like walking into a beautiful room without a carpet. One complements the other. A small investment in regular Lawn Treatments will pay you back with a beautiful lawn and a perfect backdrop to your home. Lawns are plants. They need regular feeding to grow and look healthy. After all they are the only plant you ‘chop the top off’ every week. Regular Lawn Treatments keep the lawn green, fight off and control weeds. A small investment in Lawn Treatments will pay you back with a beautiful healthy lawn which will not only be good for your home, pleasing to your eye but also good for the environment.
Why should I have GreenThumb provide lawn treatments? Our NutraGreen Treatments are the results of millions of Lawn Treatments every year and decades of Lawn Treatment development. They are exclusive to us and just for our customers. They are the best you can get. We don’t buy off the shelf. They are manufactured (not blended) just for us. At times we realise that GreenThumb Treatments might be a pound or two more costly than cheaper alternatives. Since Lawn Treatments are a modest cost. We think you should have the best there is. GreenThumb Treatments are the best there is.

Isle Education Trust – Maintaining Standards in Very Trying Times At Isle Education Trust, we Expect Excellence from everyone and in all things. This is our mindset. Across the Trust this translates in to Excellence in Engagement, Excellence in Communication and Excellence in Self. Excellence in Engagement - All stakeholders are expected to engage fully in whatever role they occupy; students, staff and parents. Full commitment to a task ensures that the very best outcomes can be achieved both in and out of the classroom. If we are going to do something we do it properly, with all our heart and make it the best it can possibly be. Excellence in Communication - Communication is crucial to any form of success. We strive for excellence in communication every day, be it in the classroom, with staff colleagues, with parents and our communities, with other experts and settings. If everyone knows and understands what we are aiming to achieve, how we plan to get there and the part each individual has to play, the road to success is more direct, less lonely and ultimately more impactful. Excellence in Self - A team is only as good as the sum of its parts. At IET, each individual is held to the highest standards of excellence to ensure that the part they play in the success of the Trust is as good as it can be. Excellence in self means understanding when to ask for help and when to offer help to others. It is about having a growth mindset and always striving to be the very best version of ourselves that we can be. This Trust mind set has seen us through the challenge of lockdown and will continue to serve us well as we look to welcome back all of our students and staff at Epworth Primary, South Axholme and Coritani academies in September. A huge amount of work has gone in to preparations for this and whilst things will be a little different to normal, we are confident that all students will get back to full time learning very quickly so we can be back on track in no time! Thank you to our local communities for their ongoing support throughout this period and for keeping the Isle going. We are proud to be a part of such a fantastic community!
