April issue of

Epworth and Belton Arrow This month’s Arrow has the latest primary school news including World book day and the Ukraine crisis and how one school helped with donations.

We have another opportunity for everyone t o get together as we celebrate Queen Elizabeth’s 11 Platinum Jubilee in the Summer. Everyone is encouraged to hold a street party over the weekend. The celebrations start on Thursday 2nd June until Sunday 5th. Feel free to share your plans and ideas in the Arrow.

Epworth Town Council are working hard for the village to have a fun packed weekend of activities. Watch out for the events in the next Arrows running up to June.

April is the month to celebrate Easter.

Boston Park Farm are holding their annual Easter Egg hunt between the 15th—18th April.

Community News

Isle Group of the Lincolnshire Wildlife Trust Thursday April 7th 2022 at 7.30pm

On Thursday April 7th at 7.30pm the Isle Group of the Lincolnshire Wildlife Trust will hold their monthly meeting in Belton Church Hall. This month we are having a talk on Natterjack Toads by Matt Blissett.

We are a volunteer led and run organisation consisting of a board of trustees and a maintenance committee made up of Trustees and members of the public. One such proposal is to enhance a fence replacement by the addition of advertising panels to which end we are circulating the attached letter to local businesses seeking support.

Over the years we have seen less volunteers coming forward to act as trustees or join the maintenance committee and so the essential work falls on a smaller group as time goes by.

Natterjack toads are a rare protected, species of toad which live in only a few places in Britain, including part of the coast of Lincolnshire. Matt is the warden of the area where they occur and he and the assistant warden Ruth will be telling us all about these rare amphibians.

If you can spare the time or have ideas for fund raising that you can carry out you will be made very welcome. Anyone requiring information can contact Fred Brumby, Chair of Trustees on mobile number 07944708786.

We meet in the spacious venue, Belton All Saints Centre (Church Hall) which is next to the Church on Stocks Hill off the High Street in Belton.. The committee will do everything they can to make sure we have an enjoyable and safe meeting.

Everyone is welcome, you don't have to be a member of the Wildlife Trust so please come along and join us. Entrance fee is £1. There will be refreshments and a raffle.

West Butterwick C of E Primary School Trentside Federation In our school we dressed up as our favourite characters for world book day. During the day, the children had a visit from Rappaman, who performed various different poems from his latest book.

The children then had a go at writing their own poems with the Rappaman. Who knew poetry writing could be so thrilling? The experience definitely gave us a new perspective when approaching poetry.

Later that day, children were able to record themselves reading a poem and then they chose a picture to disguise their identity. In assembly, the whole school worked together to figure out who the masked reader was. This was fun because even the teachers joined in with the fun.

We had a lot of fun learning how to write fun and quirky poems while also experiencing Rap style music!

Further collection points for vital supplies have been set up across North Lincolnshire. Anything collected at the sites in Scunthorpe, Brigg, Crowle in the Isle of Axholme, Barton and in Winterton will be sorted and transported to Hemswell in Lincolnshire where a convoy of 30 lorries is due to travel across Europe next week. The supplies collected in North Lincolnshire will be distributed in Poland direct to refugee families who have fled Ukraine.
