Community News News from Luddington Village Hall 4th December OAP/Seniors Christmas

The black donkey, owned by Susan Owen of Haxey, will make his entrance to the special service, which takes the form of a Nativity, much to the delight of local families. Everyone is welcome to attend and there will be complimentary mince pies, tea/coffee, and soft drinks available.

Meanwhile at 10.30am on Sunday 4th December the annual Carol Service will be held jointly with Ealand Church members at the Fieldside Chapel. Again, all welcome.

The Isle Community Choir meets every term-time Wednesday at 7.30, at St Norberts Academy in Crowle. A warm welcome is guaranteed to new members, regardless of experience.

This year we are proud to announce that we have a new trophy to award to the best decorated house in Crowle or Ealand. The new trophy is

whether involved with the Hospice or not!

The service is hymns, readings and music by local groups and the chance to send a Christmas message to loved ones by hanging a 'leaf' on the Christmas tree!

December 7th at 7pm at st. Oswald's Church, Crowle, with music within the service by The Isle Community Choir!

December 8th at 7pm at St. Nicholas Church Haxey, with music from the Take Note Choir and St Nicholas Hand Bell ringers!

December 13th at 2pm at St. Andrews Church Epworth, with music from South Axholme Academy Wind Band.

Coffee and seasonal refreshments are served after each service!

Ongoing Issues

Market Place =Youths Causing Annoyance Update = This area is being monitored by police and calls for service have declined. Joint meeting with Police/Safer Neighbourhoods and Youth service is planned in November to highlight the issues and try to resolve them.

Vicars Walk/Church Street, Crowle = Parking Issues and Youths playing football in the Church Yard.

Update =. Regular patrols are still monitoring the area for parking offences and youths in the church yard have been monitored and spoken to regards their behaviour.

Off Road Bikes = Keadby Update = No calls for service have been received for Off road bikes but regular patrols by police continue to monitor this priority.

Speeding Vehicles High Street, Luddington Update = Area is still being monitored for Road traffic offences and offending drivers will be dealt with.

EPWORTH OPENING HOURS FOR DECEMBER = The Police station will be open Monday 12th and Monday 19th December 2016 during the hours of 10am to 2pm please do not hesitate to call in and discuss any issues you may have.

CHRISTMAS PERIOD = PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE be careful this Christmas period do not leave presents/valuables on open view in either you vehicle or in your house. The opportunist thief may be on the look out to steal your property and ruin your Christmas. If you leave property in your vehicle make sure they are out of view and if you put presents around your Christmas tree make sure somebody walking past your house cannot see them. Be careful and have a Happy Christmas from everybody at the Epworth Community Team.

CROWLE & EALAND TOWN COUNCIL Town Council Re-location of Office The Town Council have now moved in to their new office in the Market an official opening will be arranged within the next month The opening hours have now changed and the office is open Monday, Wednesday & Friday 10am—2pm

Mayoral Civic Service The Mayor and Mayoress Councillor Melvyn Bailey and Mrs Doreen Bailey held the first Civic Service in many years on Sunday 23rd October at St Oswald’s Church.

The Civic Service was a great success ad money was raised for the church. The Mayor would like to thank the church Ladies for all their help with refreshments, flowers.

Remembrance Sunday 13th November 2016 Ealand service will parade at 10.30am and Crowle service will parade at 11.30am

Cutting the Sod for the Axholme North Leisure Centre The first sod was cut for the development of the Axholme North Leisure Centre being built on the site of The Axholme Academy in Crowle. The ceremony was performed by Crowle councillors John Briggs and Julie Read and also in attendance were Baroness Redfearn, MP Andrew Percy, representatives from Fairclough the appointed contractors and Joe Sellars, Principal at the academy.

Joe Sellars said 'it is great to mark the start of construction of the leisure centre. It will bring fantastic new facilities to the North of the Isle including a 25 metre pool, fitness and dance/exercise studio, a floodlit artificial grass pitch, new tennis courts, an upgraded sports hall and new changing facilities. Building the centre on the school site will maximise use by people of all ages in a true community facility.'

Reception at Normanby Hall 40 students and staff were invited to a reception at Normanby Hall by the mayor of north Lincolnshire Cllr Foster to recognise the bravery of a teacher and two teaching assistants at The Axholme Academy who saved a coach full of students from potential disaster during a trip to Alton Towers in July. English teacher, Carl Thompson and teaching assistants Steph Parkinson and Di Nunns acted quickly to take control of the coach as the driver lost consciousness on the busy M1 near Sheffield. Carl managed to get behind the wheel and steer the coach off the motorway, around a roundabout and to a safe stop without colliding with any other vehicles despite the coach hitting the central reservation.

Principal, Joe Sellars, said 'it was a lovely gesture for the mayor to invite the 3 members of staff and all of the students on that coach to a reception. They really enjoyed the occasion at Normanby Hall, meeting the mayor and Cllrs Briggs and Reid and seeing the three members of staff receive awards for their bravery.

Romeo Challenger Romeo Challenger, a Year 8 student at The Axholme Academy, won the award of Young Carer of the Year at the Yorkshire Children of Courage Awards on Friday 14th October. Romeo knew he had been nominated for an award but receiving it was a complete surprise.

Romeo said he felt really special at the glitzy awards held at the New Dock Hall in Leeds. He was excited to meet the Chuckle Brothers and other celebrities who were there.

Principal, Joe Sellars, said ‘We are all delighted that Romeo was recognised with this important award.
