Welcome to the August issue of the Arrow.

Another school year has ended and another set of young people heading towards their next challenge in life! The wait for GCSE and A level results which will determine their next steps!

What ever the results whether good or not what they expected, life is a challenge with lots of opportunities available, so lets hope they take it with open arms and embrace changes in the months ahead!

On writing this editorial, England went home from the Euros, Wales celebrated fantastic success getting to the semi finals. Andy Murray is in the final of Wimbledon and The Olympics will begin on 5th August in Rio! What a sporting Summer!

Market Place =Youths Causing Annoyance Update = This area is being monitored by the Local Community Team and we are happy to report there has a reduced number of calls to this area.

Vicars Walk/Church Street, Crowle = Parking Issues and Youths playing football in the Church Yard.

Update = No reports have been received regarding these matters but with the warmer weather upon us the Local Policing Team will make regular patrols.

Off Road Bikes = Keadby Update = There has been one incident of this nature in the past few weeks. The Local Community Team are asking the general public to assist us in this matter and ring in any such incident on telephone number 101.

Speeding Vehicles High Street, Luddington = This continues to be a priority for the North of the Isle. The situation is being monitored and any offending behaviour will be dealt with in A positive manner.

HISTORY OF AMCOTTS Church of England School During the summer a small group of Amcotts residents have been meeting on a Wednesday afternoon at St Marks Church 1-30 to 3-00 looking at some of the history of Amcotts. Several interesting projects are underway and some villagers at work during the week have asked us to put on evening sessions. We hope to continue the afternoon sessions in August and put on evening ones in September. Do come along with memories and photographs. Tea and cakes. No charge.

“OUTCASTS” Cricket Club comes in from the Cold!

It is exciting times for a North Lincolnshire village cricket club as they prepare to officially open a new pavilion and facilities on Sunday August 21st, with a festival of cricket and family entertainment.

Outcasts Cricket Club, have been in existence since the late 1940’s. The rather unusual name comes from a breakaway group of players unable to secure a place in the local Isle of Axholme teams. The club moved to the picturesque ground at Hirst Priory in 1976, where the facilities have remained relatively untouched ….. until now!

In January this year work began on the new facility which has been made possible through a grant received from Scottish Southern Energy (SSE) and their commitment to local leisure projects, and further funding from North Lincolnshire Council. What stands today in a state of art facility boasting bar, kitchen and changing facilities. The facility is not only used for cricket, but also for social events, meetings and children’s parties.

In recent years this success has been mirrored on the field. In 2015 the 1st XI were Division 1 champions for the first time, and this year they are making their debut within the Lincolnshire Premier League. The club boasts a Second and Third XI and also a Midweek Evening League Team.

Most pleasing has been the developments within the junior section of the club, which has seen numbers swell in last couple of years. Local children between 8 and 15 now receive expert training on a weekly basis, and the club fields Under 11’s , 13’s and 15’s teams.

Sunday 21st August 10 am – 10pm , will be an opportunity to celebrate all these developments with an Open day to which the club would like to invite as many people from the local community and beyond. The day will see a number of local bands performing and kids entertainment including face painting, treasure hunts and bouncy castle. There will be a Hog Roast, Bake Off competition and Beer Tent, to ensure all guests are fed and “watered”. The cricket tournament will see local teams from Outcasts, Luddington and Haxey compete alongside a Macmillan Cancer Invitational Team. The club are teaming up with Macmillan Cancer Care (a charity close to the heart of a number of members) on the day and will ensure a donation is made from the day’s events.

There will be a number of prizes to be won and an auction on the day, as well as the official “cutting of the ribbon.” Chairman of Outcasts Cricket Club Mark Coulman said “The new facilities at the club are a significant boost to the local community, and offer a great opportunity for families to become more involved in cricket and other social activities. I would like to thank SSE and North Lincolnshire Council for their financial support, and to all the local tradesman involved in the pavilion development. Our opening on the 21st August should be a fantastic mixture of family entertainment and cricket and I encourage everyone to come and spend some time at our great new ground” Further information on the event can be found via the club Facebook and Twitter pages

This beautiful girl is Daisy, a 6 year old Border Collie cross. Daisy is a very affectionate, loving girl who is very well behaved in the house, and both on-and off- the lead. We are looking for an active home ideally with experience of the breed, as she can be quite strong-willed, as Collie owners will understand! Daisy is fine with most other dogs, but is not suitable for a home with young children. Daisy is neutered, fully vaccinated and micro-chipped. Year 11 PROM Year 11 students celebrated the end of their secondary education with a Prom held at Doncaster Rugby Club on July 1st. With possibly one of the nicest year groups in the school’s history joining together to bid farewell to each other, 85 staff and students arrived in style in everything from a VW Beetle to a Ferrari and a lorry to a tractor.

The evening included a formal 3-course meal, disco and photographer taking individual and group photos!! Behaviour was exemplary with everyone taking to the dance floor (who can forget Harry Wright, Cameron Swan and Mrs Carter on the dance floor showing us their stanky leg whilst we watched them whip?) Year 11 students dispersed afterwards to enjoy their own post-Prom parties. We look forward to meeting up and helping them celebrate again on results day in August and on the Presentation evening in November.

Originally working from an old forge and office on Westgate Rd Belton, we specialised in hand forged ironmongery and quickly expanded supplying the UK and Worldwide.
