Welcome to the November issue of The Branton & Auckley Arrow
I hope everyone has a fun half term break and enjoys a spooktacular and safe Halloween and Guy Fawkes. I have seen lots of homes already decorated for Halloween so it should be really clear whose door to knock on! Please remind your children to be mindful of our elderly neighbours and those who don’t want to take part. There are lots of organised Firework events, but the Scouts are celebrating on Saturday 9th November at the Scout Hut on Hurst Lane, Auckley. Congratulations to Finningley Parish Council who dealt with the recent Peacock debate professionally and fairly. The deadline for the December issue is Wednesday 13th November The December issue will be distributed the last weekend in November.
Best Wishes

Community News
A drop in was held in Branton on Monday 21st October at Kilham Hall Meeting Rooms to enable residents to speak to our local PCSO’s (Police Community Support Officer). Three residents attended. Speeding traffic issues in Old Cantley and Chapel Lane were discussed as well as parking on pavements on Chapel Lane which cause obstructions to wheel chairs and push chairs. Another drop in will be arranged in the New Year, we hope to have a new date in the December issue of the Arrow.

Here we are hurtling towards the end of the year and preparations have gathered pace for our Memory Tree event in Frenchgate….see below. We have received donations from some wonderful people who have taken our prostate cancer appeal to heart. Darren held a coffee morning in his garden (with marquees to shelter from the rain!), plus a raffle with prizes donated from local firms, and raised £550! Thank you so much for all your hard work. We have had donations from people celebrating special birthdays and anniversaries and requesting donations in lieu of presents. Our regular coffee morning ladies in Hatfield also continue to support us for which we are very grateful. Space limits us to mention everyone, but all our latest news is on the website, although we appreciate not everyone has a computer. At the time of writing (early October) we had reached £33,200. Our annual Memory Tree event in the Frenchgate Centre starts Monday, 25th November until Friday, 20th December. We hope to be downstairs outside Boots from 10am to 3pm Monday to Saturday. We have chosen some lovely new tree decorations this year so please come along and see us, have a chat and buy a token in memory of your loved one. If you have any fundraising ideas or would like to be a volunteer please do get in touch with us. Our contact details are: 22 Wood Street, Doncaster DN1 3LW (entrance by the side of Kerry Gough Florists), second floor (lift available), Room 209. Tel. 01302 325029. Email: info@dcdt.co.uk. Website: dcdt.co.uk. We look forward to seeing as many of you as possible at our Memory Tree stand.

Auckley Parish Neighbourhood Plan Update As you may be aware, a Neighbourhood Plan is being produced for the parish of Auckley to enable the community to have a greater say on future planning applications.
positive turnout and response to the work undertaken so far.
Over the past few years, a group of local residents – known as the ‘’working group’’ (supported by the Parish Council) - have been consulting the community to ask about what local issues are important, and how the area should be changed in the future. This is happening at a time when the area is undergoing significant changes which are currently outside the control of the Neighbourhood Plan – namely at the airport and the wildlife park.
The site assessment will look at whether each site is either "available, suitable and deliverable’’ to accommodate future development. Once complete, this will help us identify what areas of land could be developed in the future. Once we know which of the sites are considered ‘’suitable’’, the working group will organise a public consultation where residents can view the sites and decide how much development, and type of development, each site should accommodate.
As part of this process, the working group undertook a ‘’call for land’’ that ended in September last year where we asked landowners to submit areas of land in the parish to be considered for development. At the same time, work has been undertaken to identify areas of land that should be protected from development such as the public green spaces and land between neighbouring settlements to avoid unnecessary coalescence. The protected areas of land were available for public view at the Auckley Show in August where we received a
In total, 12 potential development sites were submitted to the working group and are currently being assessed by an independent Government approved consultancy.
At the same time, planning policies are also being prepared to support some of issues raised by the community following previous consultation feedback.
