If so, we would like to hear from you ! 2018 will see the 30TH Anniversary of Branton Juniors Football Club, and to celebrate this anniversary, the club would like to invite any players, managers, coaches or parents who have been involved with the club to join in a number of celebrations the club is planning throughout 2018. We would also like to hear from anyone who has any Branton JFC memobrilia , including any old shirts, trophies, articles, souvenirs from tournaments etc., or if you anyone has any stories, or tales from their time with the club, we would like to hear from you. Contact details are at the bottom of this article The club is planning a Sporting evening later in 2018,as well as a family fun day for both current and former members of the club, full details of which will be posted in the Arrow in due course. The club was formed back in the summer of 1988, at that time they were called 'Branton and RAF Finningley Junior Football Club'. It was formed by Phil Mann and he was soon joined by Garry Burns and Roger Griggs, who had plenty of boys eager to play in an organised team. Soon there were enough players, and two teams were entered at U10 and U11 in the Doncaster and District Boys Sunday League. In those days Branton Juniors played all their home matches at Kilham Lane and the fledgling club also ran a nursery group of 9's and under on Saturday mornings. Over the coming years the popularity in the club grew, forcing the club to move to a new home within RAF Finningley. By 1994 the club had grown into one of the largest junior clubs in the area and moved to its current location at Hayfield School on Hurst Lane. Today the club now has teams in every age group from Under 6’s through to Under 16’s, and continues to go from strength to strength, both on and off the pitch. Welcome to the February issue
of The Branton & Auckley Arrow. Did you manage to leave behind the excesses of Christmas and find motivation in January for new plans and ideas? I managed to book a week away and have started Pilates so I had a few moments of inspiration. I hope you were lucky enough to avoid the dreaded bugs which the majority of us have had to endure. If not, I hope you and your family are on the road to recovery. It seems that everyone you speak to has someone close who has suffered. I’ll be first in line for the flu jab next year! Half term is early this year with schools breaking up on 9th February. Yorkshire Wildlife Park and Boston Park Farm have activities on throughout the half term week. Kilham Hall park in Branton has had the outside Table Tennis delivered so the park is now fully ready for use. If you are thinking ahead to Valentines Day, the Farmers Farm Shop in Westwoodside are advertising a steak night on Wednesday14th as well as Fri 23rd February, booking is essential! Just wanted to say a big thank you to all of the Arrow delivery staff who month after month, deliver your arrow on time, no matter what the weather.
The deadline for the March issue will be Wednesday 7th February which is a bit earlier than normal due to the half term holiday. The March Arrow will be delivered by the last weekend in February. Kilham Hall Coffee Club News Kilham Hall Coffee Club held their Christmas Party on the 19th December. We enjoyed lunch which was our usual Pie and Peas and Plum bread. The entertainment was supplied by Alex John, who sang a range of pop music and Christmas music. As usual, we all had a great time. The Coffee Club will be celebrating Valentine's day on Tuesday13th February. Please come and join us, for our usual quiz bingo, monologue and raffle. As a special treat, we will be serving gateaux! The next event for the Coffee Club will be our Easter celebration which will be held on Tuesday 27th March. Our competition will be a painted Hen's Egg. Once again we will have a quiz bingo, monologue and raffle, refreshments will be tea coffee and mincepie's! Everyone is welcome to join us at our Coffee Morning, starts at 10.00am till 11.30am every Tuesday in term time.

Stage one Men's and Woman's Race Route on Thursday 3rd May 2018 ………. route through Blaxton, Auckley and Bessacarr towards the town centre.
The Tour De Yorkshire starts this year on Thursday 3rd May with both the Men's and Woman's Stage one race finishing in Doncaster. The Men's race will start at Hornsea and the Woman's race starts at Beverley. Times are to be confirmed. You can keep up with the latest news at www.letour.yorkshire.com/the-race/ As you can see from the map above, the race will go through the villages of Blaxton and Auckley before continuing up Bawtry Road towards the town centre. If you want to get involved with decorating the spectator line, Doncaster Council have set up a working party. Please contact your Parish Council or Steve Racjan for more details. Unfortunately, the race misses the Villages of Branton and Old Cantley, however, the race does still go through the parish of Cantley with Branton as the boundary of the Parish takes in part of Bawtry Road. BLUE BINS When you receive your blue bin, whether it is in December, January or February, PLEASE DO NOT USE IT UNTIL MARCH 2018. We are not able to collect it before then. Please continue to use your green box for your recycling until the new service starts. Blue bin deliveries will take some time, so please do not panic if you haven't received your bin in the next few weeks. Everyone will have their blue bin before the service starts.
What can I recycle in my blue bin? You can put these items in your blue bin: Paper, Cardboard, Tins, Cans, Foil, Empty aerosols, Plastic bottles, Liquid food cartons (Tetra Pak). Glass bottles and jars will continue to be collected from your green box. Small electrical items (such as toasters or kettles) and textiles (such as clothes, shoes, towels and bed sheets) can be put in a plastic bag next to you blue bin or green box. DANUM PROBUS CLUB Danum Probus Club is an organisation for men who have retired or are semi-retired from their profession, business or other employment who want to maintain a social network with others who have similar interests. Danum Probus Club meets on the first and third Mondays of the month at Town Moor Golf Club, Bawtry Road, Belle Vue, Doncaster starting at 10 am. Our only meeting in January was on Monday 15 when we held our Annual General Meeting. The main business was the confirmation of election of Officer and Committee. The new Committee is: President David Allen, Vice President George Kirk, Immediate Past President John Gregory, Hon. Secretary Nev Westhead, Treasurer Stephen Baker, Ordinary Members - Arthur Kendrick, Des Parks, Graham Fletcher, Co-opted Members Almoner Ian Sampson, Programme Secretary John Hope, Lunches Mike Maher and Mick Peduzie, Outings Chris Harris, Theatre Vacant, Bowls Peter Oldale, and Golf Derek Millward. darts (Doncaster Community Arts) has received £25,700 from the Heritage Lottery Fund (HLF) for an exciting project, Doncaster’s Cycling Stories. Made possible by money raised by National Lottery players, the project focuses on the borough’s historic relationship with cycling. From weekend road races to evening training rides, cycling has played a key role in the leisure time of Doncaster residents for hundreds of years. Doncaster has produced many successful cyclists in its history, including national and international champions, Olympians and Tour de France riders and the project will tell their stories alongside the many FREE LOCAL HELP SURGERY other local heroes who have contributed to Doncaster’s cycling heritage. Auckley Surgery News Letter Dear Auckley Surgery Patients and members of the local Community, As you may have heard Auckley Surgery has been making plans to merge with The Village Practice in Armthorpe. Dr Alex and her team have had growing concerns for a while about the capacity and access to appointments for her patients, particularly as we see rapidly expanding housing estates in the area with more planned for construction in the near future. We understand also that this has been a concern not only for existing patients but also for the community in general and local parish Council. We echoed your fears and therefore felt the need to take steps to stabilise and preserve the service we provide; it was after discussions with The Village Practice that we realised they were like minded and had the same ‘village’ feel. We felt that a merger between the two was the best way forward for our patients and the growing local population. We plan to remain open in Auckley and in Armthorpe so appointments will be offered at both sites for Doctors, Advanced Practitioners and the Nursing teams. Some back offices functions like the sorting of hospital letters, storage of notes, processing referrals etc. may all be centralised at one place but patients should not see any effects of this change. You may have seen in July Dr Rahim here providing some clinical sessions for us, he is one of the partners at The Village Practice, you will see more of him and Dr Velasco in practice at Auckley. I’m sure you will make them feel welcome. We plan to hold an open day at both sites with both practice managers available to speak to so if you have any questions we will do our best to answer them. We will be advertising these in the New Year. Patients of both surgeries will receive a letter closer to the time of the merge explaining more details about the service and who their doctors, nurses etc. will be. Recently we have been notified that a new pharmacy has been planned at Hayfield Green in Auckley. This will affect and greatly restrict who Auckley Surgery can dispense to. At the moment we have no further news but once we do we will inform the patients that this will affect. We have seen a number of changes over 2017 with some staff changes and changes to the way we do things:

The change in collection time for medications and prescription We now offer advanced practitioners appointments on a Wednesday afternoon The addition of Care Navigation meaning that reception staff have been asked to find out a bit more from a patient when they’re trying to book an appointment in order to put them in the most appropriate service The change to sending electronic prescriptions to pharmacies More on line services available.
In addition to this the GP surgeries in Doncaster have formed a Federation called Primary Care Doncaster. This should mean greater support and a voice for GP practices in the local health economy but also more services in Primary Care for patients, greater access to appointments across the network of surgeries for some specialisms and will be working towards providing a local provision of extended access (appointments outside the normal surgery hours) in the future. Patients across Doncaster should see positive changes and a greater presence from Primary Care Doncaster in the coming year, including a website and promoting new services. The RSPCA South Yorkshire Animal Centre at Bawtry requires extra volunteers in key areas: Our Fund Raising group meet regularly and help at events such as the dog show and the Easter Fair. Be part of our Dog Walking team – we have a particular shortage on Thursdays. Help to Meet & Greet – this is a vital role to show customers how to use our new Assisted Viewing screens and guide them to and from the dog compound. Home visitors – another important task to ensure our rescued animals go to a good home. Cat and dog fosterers provide important support for rescued animals that need time and TLC to recover before re-homing. These are flexible opportunities that fit round a busy lifestyle. For example, fund raising might involve supporting a handful of events through the year. Volunteering at the Animal Centre might be a morning or an afternoon during the week or at a weekend. These two beautiful girls are sisters Sasja & Theia who are 6 years old, and have been handed into the Rescue by their owners, who could sadly no longer keep them. They are lovely, affectionate cats- rather quiet and shy at first, and we would like to rehome them as a pair if possible. They are not good with other cats, and haven’t been around dogs, so would be best as only pets in a quieter home. They have been indoor cats, so would be suitable for a home with no outside space. AUCKLEY PARISH COUNCIL February/March 2018 Newsletter Parish Precept The Parish Precept is the amount of money that Doncaster Council is asked to collect on our behalf, and all monies are spent on matters supporting the residents of Auckley Parish. To allow for inflation and various projects in the pipeline, the precept has been increased to ÂŁ38,000 for the 2018/2019 financial year which will be an increase of approximately ÂŁ1 on residents' parish rate.
Planning Application to Construct New Access to Yorkshire Wildlife Park
The Parish Council led a vigorous campaign to oppose the proposed access, due to serious traffic problems relating to Hurst Lane. We were supported by a large number of residents concerned about the proposal, and our three District Councillors who all spoke to oppose the application when it was considered by DMBC's Planning Committee on 9th January 2018. However, the Committee voted 3 to 2 in favour of the application, with 2 abstentions. This is a disappointing result, but we will fight the decision and are currently in consultation with various parties.
Auckley Parish Neighbourhood Plan
Residents, supported by the Parish Council, have established a Neighbourhood Plan Group and have met on 3 occasions. The next meeting will be held at the Auckley Parish Centre on Monday, 5th February 2018, commencing at 6.30 p.m. Anyone who is interested in having a say in the future of Auckley is invited to attend.
The Tour de Yorkshire
The Tour de Yorkshire is set to return to Doncaster, with the first stage of the men's and women's race taking place on Thursday, 3rd May 2018. The route will take in the towns and villages of Sykehouse, Fishlake, Stainforth, Hatfield Woodhouse, Blaxton, Auckley and Bennetthorpe. In the case of Auckley, the riders will be cycling along Mosham Road, from the direction of Blaxton, before turning into Hurst Lane and travelling its length before emerging at the A638 Great North Road. Branton Juniors Football Club
In December, Branton Juniors Football Club raised £372 for Bluebell Wood Children’s Hospice as they took part in an Elf Dash around Hayfield school to raise money for the charity. The cheque was handed to them along with a signed shirt by under 11’s Manager, Adam Frost. The under 11’s have the Bluebell Wood Children’s Hospice logo on the front of their team strip and have been raising money all year.

Doncaster Rambler’s
"A Whirl Across the Moors" or “Ramblers in the mist” You wouldn’t send a dog out in these conditions, although we saw a few, and some hardy highland cattle come to that, but we at Doncaster Ramblers are made of hardy stock. So with sub-zero temperature, visibilities less than 100 m in parts, footpaths like an ice rink 24 of us set off from Whirlow Grange and were soon climbing up through Lady Canning's Plantation with an ethereal mist swirling around the bare, frosted trees. The gothic feel made us glad we were not here alone. Thus a coffee stop in the open was welcomed and very much enhanced by Norman's ice dance version of Bolero whilst delivering portions of his delicious birthday cake. Rumour has it the recipe is available via our Flickr site. After coffee and cake we were soon on open moorland leading to Upper Burbage Bridge and the gentle descent down to our lunch stop at the Fox Inn (or Longshaw NT Cafe). Try as we may there was little to see of the surrounding landscape, therefore s good reason to return here in summer!. The congenial atmosphere inside with the smell of woodsmoke and roast dinners was hard to leave. After a story or two from Norman which included tales of decoy WW2 villages code names Starfish, we were soon making our way along Houndkirk Road (a footpath) where Norman described the lovely view of Sheffield which we could have seen had it not been foggy! We were soon back in the woods leading to our start point and all arrived back safely thanks to excellent backmarking from Lee and Chris – a task made the harder due to poor visibility . Thanks, Norman, for a great day out in challenging circumstances. We all really enjoyed your walk and as our leader you cared for us very well throughout the day. Your stories were interesting too - especially the one about a Zeppelin! Citizens Advice Doncaster Borough expects 31st of January to be year’s busiest day for debt and energy advice The last day of January is expected to be the busiest day of the year for people seeking help with their debts and energy bills, according to Citizens Advice Doncaster Borough. Analysis of national data from the past 12 months reveals that on 31 January 2017 Citizens Advice helped 2,800 people, 30 per cent above the daily average. This means one person sought help from Citizens Advice every 10 seconds across the country. 30 January was the most popular day for seeking advice online, with twice as many page views as average for the rest of the year. Locally, Citizens Advice Doncaster Borough is expecting around a hundred people to seek advice on debt and energy matters throughout the first month of the year. Citizens Advice provides assistance to people seeking help for a wide variety of debt and energy concerns, including council tax arrears, credit card debt, rent arrears, unsecured or payday loans and higher than usual energy bills over the winter. To help people kick off 2018 on a stronger financial footing, Citizens Advice is sharing its top tips to help people get their finances in order for the New Year. But this needn’t become a crisis problems can be taken care of if you seek advice early. “The New Year is a good time to get on top of your debts, cut your costs or budget better. Citizens Advice can help you review your situation so you can make decisions that improve your financial security.”
Citizens Advice Doncaster Borough’s top tips to sort out your debts: Work out how much you owe - Make a list of who you owe money to and add up how much you need to pay each month. If you don’t have your most recent statements, contact your creditor to find out what you owe. Prioritise your debts - Your rent or mortgage, and council tax are called priority debts as there can be serious consequences if you don’t pay them. These should always be paid first. Separate these and work out how much you owe. Work out how much you can pay - Create a budget by adding up your essential living costs, such as food and housing, and taking away these from your income. Any money you have spare can be put towards your debts. Citizens Advice budgeting tool can help. Paying urgent debts - You may have several priority debts and can’t pay them all. Contact all your creditors to find out if you can negotiate on how much you pay, or when you pay them. Always pay first priority creditors who are taking action against you. Paying non-urgent debts - If you have any money left after paying priority debts, Citizens Advice can arrange a free debt-management plan and contact your creditors to offer them what you can afford to pay. If you can’t pay your debts - If you’ve got little or no money spare to pay your priority debts seek advice from us straight away. The Carers Emergency Card Scheme
The Carers Emergency Card Scheme that has been in place is being reviewed to enable a new Carers Emergency Card Scheme to be introduced. What this means is for the present no new referrals to the current Scheme will be taken forward in the short term. Work is underway to move to a place in consultation with carers whereby informal networks and/or a care provider that you choose to purchase care from will be able to respond when you have an emergency.
It is vitally important that going forward Carers and the person they care for are in control and can make informed decisions about the replacement care arrangements required when the carer experiences an emergency. Therefore, carers, families and friends may like to identify who would be able to respond to provide help in the event of an emergency and what shape that plan may take and who would need to know this information to make it effective and update the plan accordingly if there are changes .
