Welcome To the January issue of
Ackworth Arrow
Thank you to all of our sponsors, advertisers and contributors. Your support is very much appreciated and we hope you have a successful, happy 2021. Thank you to our fabulous team of distributors, through hail and shine, you continue to deliver. You are amazing. I’m feeling really positive about 2021, with the new vaccine, we should hopefully regain some normality and return to our more recognisable lives. This is normally the time of year we sit and consider our future, new challenges and ‘resolutions’. What ever yours may be, I hope your journey through 2020 has not been too difficult and all your hopes and dreams for 2021 can be achieved.
The deadline for the February issue is Wednesday 20th January. The February issue will be distributed the last weekend in January. All the best for 2021 Michelle Sidebottom Tel: 07795 387937 michelle@arrowpublications.co.uk .arrowpublications.co.uk

COMMUNITY NEWS Ready,
steady, census...
Households across Wakefield will soon be asked to take part in Census 2021. The census is a once-in-a-decade survey that gives us the most accurate estimate of all the people and households in England and Wales. It has been carried out every decade since 1801, with the exception of 1941. Census day is Sunday 21 March 2021 and it will be the first to be run predominantly online, with households receiving a letter with a unique access code allowing them to complete the questionnaire on their computers, phones or tablets from early March. “A successful census will ensure everyone from local government to charities can put services and funding in the places where they are most needed,” Iain Bell, deputy national statistician at the Office for National Statistics, said. “This could mean things like doctors’ surgeries, schools and new transport routes. That’s why it is so important everyone takes part and we have made it easier for people to do so online on any device, with help and paper questionnaires for those that need them.” The census will include questions about your sex, age, work, health, education, household size and ethnicity. For the first time, there will be a question asking people whether they have served in the armed forces, as well as voluntary questions for those aged 16 and over on sexual orientation and gender identity. Results will be available within 12 months, and personal records will be locked away for 100 years, kept safe for future generations. There are also full and part time job opportunities available in Wakefield, please see www.censusjobs.co.uk for more information and to apply.
For more information on how the census works and can benefit our community visit www.census.gov.uk or contact jeffrey.mitchell45@field.census.gov.uk |
