Ackworth Arrow

It’s that time of year when our young people leave their familiar school environment to move onto new horizons. After the most challenging of times, I would like to wish them all the very best of luck for September and what ever it may bring.

After the last 18 months, I hope everyone can relax and enjoy the summer break and return in September revitalised and ready for our new world!

The deadline for the September issue is Wednesday 18th August. The September issue will be distributed the last full weekend in August.

Tim Henman visits Ackworth

Leona Clarkson, Don Saul, Alice Robson, Tim Henman, Sara Robson and Rachel Forrester Former England No. 1 tennis player, Tim Henman came to Ackworth School to celebrate the partnership between the School and the Tim Henman foundation’s success in providing introduction to tennis coaching sessions in local primary schools; on the 19th May. A secondary reason for Tim’s visit was to congratulate Ackworth tennis club on its sensational progress over the last three years. Tim told Club Chairman Don Saul that he was aware, fully of the improvements including the massive increase in membership numbers (over 1200% increase). Don confirmed that the main reasons for the success of Ackworth tennis club were a talented committee (Simon Knee, Peter Barker, Clare and Jon Rice, and Bernadette Gillespie), a very talented Head Coach, Alice Robson (LTA coach of the year 2020) and the team of coaches that she has assembled at the Club (Leona Clarkson, Sara Robson and Rachel Forrester).

Tim congratulated Don for his ‘Cathie Sabin U.K. volunteer of the year award’ presented to him by the LTA in 2020."
