Your Community News SUNDAY 1st September Carr Bridge Playing Fields from 10am – 4pm The Ken Wright Challenge is a Six A Side Marathon supporting the Rory James Embling Foundation & Ackworth Junior Football F.C. This is a marathon match 0f 4 hours each match a duration of 20minutes. They are looking for helpers – car parking, sandwich making, referees, etc . Residents are encouraged to go along & show their support.

Ackworth Heritage Group

Meetings are held on the 4th Thursday in the month in the Parish Council Community Centre, Bell Lane.

All are welcome with tea & coffee afterwards.

COLLEGE LANE SURGERY

Featherstone Rovers Academy is back in Ackworth on Monday 9th Sept Qualified coaches will be running rugby sessions every Monday at Carr Bridge playing fields.

Percy's Pals (ages 3-5) will be at 4.45-5.15, Junior Rovers (ages 6-8) will be at 5.15-6 and Rovers Academy (ages 9-11) 6-6.45.

YOUR VILLAGE NEEDS YOU! THE ACKWORTH BIG SPRING CLEAN This campaign is responsible for the fantastic work that has taken place to collect & prevent litter in the village.

The next community litter picks are organised for 28th & 29th September please look out for posters advising of location points. This is an excellent way of meeting like -minded people and doing something wonderful for the village.

The Primary School Community Committee will be meeting again in September to discuss other projects that they can undertake within the village & as soon as we get hear what their plans are we will let you know in our next Ackworth Arrow.

Your Community News Ackworth Parish Council Residents are invited to attend the next Parish Council meeting to be held on the 9th September at Parish Council Community Centre , Bell Lane at 7.15pm. Anyone wishing to address the Parish Council may do so during the first 15 minutes of the meeting. This is your opportunity to get involved !

PUMPKIN EVENT As reported in an earlier Ackworth Arrow for the last nine years Ackworth Parish Council has invited local children to take part in the Parish Council’s annual pumpkin event. This year’s event took place on Saturday 27th April at Brackenhill Allotments , were children planted seeds ready to gather their pumpkin in October.

The Pumpkin Weigh-In will take place on Friday 18th October at 4.30pm at Brackenhill Allotments & lots of local children are eagerly awaiting results to see if they have grow the biggest!

MASONS ARMS PINK RIBBON DAY UPDATE on the Breast Cancer Charity Day A massive THANK YOU to all who supported , attended and donated to this fantastic event. A whopping £6610.00 was raised. How AMAZING and to top it off – Kylie Minogue signed and returned the thank you letter & T-shirt which will now be framed & put on the Masons Arms Charity Wall.

ACKWORTH ROCKS This is a new scheme aimed at giving youngsters & local families a super way of spending quality time together in the great outdoors! A blossoming scheme in the USA, hunting for painted rocks is becoming a popular new trend in the U.K. It costs virtually nothing, keeps children occupied in all weathers & gets them fresh air & exercise without even realising it.
