Its been a busy month at Ackworth Girls Football club as we gear up for the new season on 14th September. With changes to teams, new members joining us as well as more coaching staff, things really are in full swing. We’ve had a very exciting first for the club with the introduction of our very own FA Female Young Referee. Charlie B is a player for the AGFC U15s and has spent time in her school holidays taking part on the course. This is a proud achievement not just for Charlie and her family, but for the entire club as it shows the progression and opportunities we can bring to the girls!! She has even been given her very own nickname at the club of #CharlieBReferree which seems to be going down well with the girls!! At the same time, two of our Open Age Ladies Becky and Chloe completed their coaching course and are our first FA Level 1 Qualified female coaches. We are excited to see them out coaching the younger ones over the coming season. We were also lucky enough to be invited to compete in The Ken Wright Challenge in aid of our nominated charity The Rory James Emblings Foundation and CRY. The challenge was a four-hour football marathon, with teams of all ages from the club taking part, alongside our neighbours Ackworth Juniors and The Cry team themselves. With a Celebrity visit from Coronation Street’s Colson Smith aka Craig Tinker, who took to the pitch himself. It was a fantastic turn out and fun day enjoyed by everyone. We even had a coach or two from AGFC take to the pitch to show the girls a few skills!! On top of all this, we even managed to squeeze a radio interview with Rhubard Radio based in Wakefield. It was brilliant to hear our very own Andy Coupland being interviewed by Wakefield Trinity’s Emma Kirke about how far we have already come with Ackworth Girls Football Club!!! So, we are excited for our next adventure in the upcoming season and if you or anyone you know are interested in joining our fantastic club find us at: www.Ackworthgirlsfc.co.uk Facebook : AckworthGirlsFC Twitter : @ClubAckworth Instagram: ackworth.girls #thisgirlcan #itsthejourneynotthedestination #Believingisachieving #CharlieBReferee 07500 109788
