What is the Ackworth 74 Club? The Ackworth 74 Club is a Ladies group which meets in the Ackworth Methodist Church Hall at 7.30 pm on the 2nd Tuesday of each month, throughout the year, except for August. However, sometimes The Club organises activities, outings etc which take place away from the village and anyone interested in attending a particular meeting of the Club is advised to call the Secretary in advance to check it will, that month, meet in the Methodist Hall.
The 74 Club, so called because it was formed in 1974, has sort to bring together ladies from all walks of life, from both within the village and from the surrounding area. Some of these ladies have a busy working and family life, others are retired, though many too are still very busy supporting family, both old and young. The Club aims to provide entertainment, stimulus and social interaction between like minded ladies. It aims to give it’s members the opportunity for some quality “time out” and the chance to make new friends. Fees are traditionally kept low so as to encourage and enable membership for anyone who may wish to join. The annual fees are currently £10 with the Annual General Meeting being held each year in March. Any prospective members may join in September for half the year for just £5. Membership is limited to 60 ladies. The 74 Club prides itself on being a “friendly club” where everyone is welcomed and included. Activities range from having Speakers on a wide variety of subjects, social evenings, meals out and outings, especially during the Summer. Anyone interested in joining the 74 Club should not hesitate, simply call the Secretary on 615608 to arrange to come along as a visitor to one of our evening meetings. You will then be free to sample the atmosphere of the Club, meet the members and decide if later you might wish to join? The next meeting of the 74 Club is the AGM onTuesday March 13th 2018
