Welcome to the August issue of the Ackworth Arrow
Huge congratulations to all students who have recently received their degree results. I hope the work and effort made is all worth while and I wish you all the very best of luck with the next chapter of your life.
August is time to holiday and we have lots going on to keep us entertained. The annual Auckley Show will be held on Saturday 19th August and the Epworth Show , also a great day out, takes place on Bank Holiday Monday, 28th August.
Yorkshire Wildlife Park have their summer concerts lined up with some great entertainers including Olly Murs, book your tickets online at www.yorkshirewildlifepark.com.
I hope everyone has a wonderful summer break. Good luck to all students awaiting exam results this August.
The September issue deadline for adverts and content is Wednesday 16th August. The Arrow will be delivered by 1st September.

Soroptimist International of Wakefield and District
Soroptimist International is a global volunteer movement working together to transform the lives of women and girls with nearly 72000 members in 121 countries.
The majority of members belong to their local club, where they can make friends with like-minded women and work on projects – local, national and international, always with an aim to educate, empower and enable women and girls.
The Wakefield club is quite small, with 23 members but we have been involved in many projects over recent years and have formed partnerships with Mary’s Meals, The Prince’s Trust, Wakefield City of Sanctuary, Askham Grange prison, Barnardo’s Young Carers. We have planted lots of trees, donated several Dementia robotic cats and have sponsored a Blue Plaque in Wakefield to recognise the work of Florence Beaumont in the campaign for women’s rights and suffrage.
We are a friendly club, enjoying various social activities, and in February 2024 we will be celebrating our 90th birthday.
We meet at St. Paul’s church, The Balk, Walton every 2nd and 4th Thursday, 7.30pm, alternating meetings between business and speaker/social.
You will be made very welcome if you would like to come along one evening (with no obligation to join!).
