Equity is Better than Equality

Because we live in a world where everyone operates different jobs and labors and its not fair to give everyone the same when there are jobs that require more effort and work, also their are others that are complex and require more knowledge, more risks and so on. But how you make it fare then? That’s where a free market its good at since people will pay more money for complex attributes than simpler ones. Company’s will pay higher wages to different jobs than others. The right market price without interventions is most of time the fair price to pay for. So as you can see, in a free market economy, usually equity is what is respected not equality. In the case of communism we se more equality been apply than equity and that’s why much people lose the incentives to do certain activities. When you have everyone earning the same a lot of them might think that its not fair that they earn the same than their neighbors or team workers when they are doing more complicate work and being more

is:

Equity is subjective because is not quantifiable, so how can you determine equity in characteristics when sometimes is not quantifiable? I will have to say that you have to make it quantifiable somehow. There are ways to make qualitative characteristics quantifiable and that’s why statistics are so important. That’s what it does, it makes qualitative

subject

quantifiable.

Equality means that each group of people is given the same resources or

opportunities. Equity recognizes that each person has different circumstances and allocate the exact resources and opportunities needed to reach an equal outcome (Medina, Paloma, Sep, 2019). This is very important because according with everyone’s condition each person needs different resources to reach an equal outcome. I believe what is really important is to determine what will be this expected outcome that we want reach for all being objectively and make it fair as being analyzed with the same perspective. I believe the only way is make everything the most quantifiable as possible because qualitative information is kind of subjective and we want to have a fair result that is felt fair for all, not everyone judging by their own perspective. The only way to reach this point is by agreeing in the first time what is going to be the expected outcome that we want to reach at all?

Being the more objective as possible is important so to be as fair as possible and that’s when you become quantifiable. Is like you claim: I want to eradicate poverty so everyone will have all their needs cover. It is clearly that everyone has different needs to cover and for some people their needs might be having a Ferrari and for others it might be having food in the table. So what you do is determine a parameter or a metric. For example: I want that everyone has the equivalent of gross domestic product per capita equivalent to the richest country in the world and we have that the country with the highest gross domestic product in the world per capita is Qatar with an equivalent to $128,647 GDP per capita per year ( google , 2022). So the more objective we become the better we can be more fair since we now know perhaps in how much we have to increase productivity and production in overall to equal Qatar.

And this is when equity distance from equality because we will determine that there are people that are more productive than others and we are going to pay them in accordance. There can be people that produce ten times the average GDP per capita and we will have other people that will produce 1/5 of it. So its not fair that they both receive the same. That’s when you become objective and determine the factors of how you are going to be equitable. For example: You determine that GDP is going to be the measurement and that being equitable is paying in accordance on how much they contribute each one to the amount of the GDP and you will have some that contribute more than others but everyone knows the rules of the game and they are free to do what they most want or where they feel more realized doing and some will choose carriers that produce more GDP than others in overall but the fact that you are having the freedom to choose it makes it seem equitable. Since nobody is forcing you and you are receiving in accordance of your choices.

That is when fair is important and you determine that they are going to have the chance to choose their careers that will determine how much they are going to earn base on their contribution to the expected GDP per capita that we want to maintain. We will be producing the expected GDP but everyone will be earning in accordance to their contribution. And this is where you become equitable and is when you determine that everyone should have the opportunities reach as a status of perceive equal conditions, you determine that for all to have the same opportunities to prosper and progress you will need different requirements for each and then you become objective again. For example, you determine that you want to

have first degree education for everyone, and to be more specific, what is a first category education for all? and you determine that having a first degree education will equal to having everyone a bachelor education equivalent to a top 100 university around the world. You determine the equal opportunity for everyone and that’s where you applied equity because everyone to get the equal opportunities has different requirements. And giving them the equal opportunities you give them the equal goal determine to everyone but since everyone chose a different career and will get involve in productivity in different ways, equity in this case is being paid in accordance to their contribution to the goal mentioned.

Is important that to be as fair as possible you will have people to get equal opportunities but that is when the freedom of everyone makes the equal opportunities different in equal results, some will be earning more, some will have a happier job, etc. The point here is that everyone’s choices get respected and you have equal conditions in respect of your choices as free human beings. So equity applies

freedom

of

choice

as

well.

It also implies recognizing and respecting our differences since we are all dislike. We are all equal as humans and self worthy but since we are all different, being equal is perhaps giving people the freedom to make their own choices in a place where there has to be laws and rules of the game to be follow to be as equitable as possible.

The world is every time becoming more diverse with globalization and iterculturalization and that makes us with more respect more need of an equitable treatment

for

our

society.

“The route to achieving equity will not be accomplished through treating everyone equally. It will be achieved by treating everyone justly according to their circumstances.” —Paula Dressel, Race Matters Institute (Unknown, I will

of freedom and

choices.

This is another definition of equity that says it with another words. It says that equity recognizes that everyone doesn’t begin in the same place in society. Some people face adverse conditions and circumstances making it more challenging with the same effort to achieve the same goals (Unknown, 2022). It is very important that it mentioned the same goals because in able to be equitable we have to have goals and rules of the game that will be played for all in able to be just. Everyone have freedom of choice but there will be collective goals and rules of the game to follow to make it the most fair as possible. That is why laws are so important. What we are looking is to have equal conditions for all in according to their special needs and equal rules of the game but with freedom to make our own choices and take our own decisions considering a free society. What is “fair” as it relates to equity isn’t a

question of what is the same but rather the point from which a person begins. Equity takes into account historical and other factors in determining what is fair. It gives everyone equal opportunities buy with different conditions and situations. It respect differences

(Unknown,
