City Council Election Update: six candidates vie for 3 seats on the Alhambra City Council

Six candidates have qualified for the ballot for the City of Alhambra General Municipal election for City Council Districts one, two, and five, taking place on November 8, 2022. The City Council of Alhambra is elected by its residents and serves a four-year term, representing one of the five council districts in the City of Alhambra. The districts, which were redrawn earlier this year, each have about 16,000-17,000 residents, with about 10,000- 12,000 eligible voters. Each of the Council Members rotates to serve as Alhambra’s Mayor for a period of nine months.

In the First Council District, three candidates are running for the seat currently held by incumbent Katherine Lee, who is running for reelection. The two challengers are Ari Gutierrez Arambula, a businesswoman and community organizer, and Stephen Sham, a local business owner and former city councilman.

In Council District Five, incumbent Adele Andrade-Stadler, who currently serves as the City’s Vice-Mayor and is running for reelection, is being challenged by Jeffrey Gomez, a journalist.

In the Second Council District, current council member Ross J. Maza is running unopposed.
