Future of Commercial Energy During this semester, we have discussed the importance of nuclear chemistry both in the past and its approaching future. Energy production via alternative sources beyond that of prehistoric fuels is becoming increasingly important as these natural fuels begin to dwindle, and pollution increases. Nuclear energy offers a high risk, high reward solution that may come off as disproportionately dangerous. However, alternative sources of energy production such as a solar, wind, and hydrostatic have numerous downsides and may be a worse temporary solution. Nuclear energy is dangerous and waste management seems to be hopeless, but does it outweigh the amount of resources that must be put into alternative sources of energy? Despite these efforts, many united fronts to combat the overwhelming task of pushing energy production towards a permanent solution have arisen such as the ITER. ITER is a coalition between numerous nations to produce energy via fusion: the energy production method of the sun! We need a permanent energy production solution before our planet’s resources are depleted, and we may see that solution in next couple of decades! Will we pursue repairing out broken nuclear energy facilities or pursue an alternative source of energy?

The Giving Tree

“Save the Trees?” YES!

They bear no arms… Well, they extend their arms. Not weapons, just help with farms. Keeping animals away from harm. Making up beautiful ecosystems And shown off at your local arboretums. Everyone has their favorite breed They make up the books you read Japan’s beautiful cherry blossom Maple trees are blooming in autumn Have you ever seen the California redwood? Or the Palm Trees that line Hollywood? Oh, the pine tree, everything it symbolizes! On Christmas, your present materializes. Have you ever sat underneath a willow? They give shade you can borrow Remember when you couldn’t say three? Embarrassing yourself by saying tree. A tree, to me, symbolizes peace A place where you can release, All the stress you accumulate,

Under the tree at your estate. You’d always play with your schoolmate Climbing; pretending to be a primate Built the bat of Babe Ruthe A tree, to me, symbolizes youth

You know I’ve never heard a tree complain. From the bottom of the food chain. Food, shelter, fuel. Wow, they’re so useful! What a beautiful brown, Let’s just cut one, just one, down…

The heroes of present-day society, Are often doomed to fall silently. When we think of a minority, Surely you do not think of the humble oak tree. In the time it took you to read the rhyme in this line, Acres of spruce or pine, Have been euthanized, And robbed of every apple, twig, and vine. Weeping willows actually weeping, Scarlet

Oaks spilling scarlet blood.

‘SAVE THE TREES!’ shouted the lorax, ‘Can’t hear you’ they said, sharpening an axe Relax! Don’t worry, they’ll grow back real fast! We need paper for the news Who cares if don’t recycle and reuse? Trees grow naturally Who knows how many are in our milky way galaxy! Infinite hopefully… Only 150 acres of rainforest are cut globally… Every minute. Why is there a need for a lawsuit! Wowie! Nice house pal! What was your rationale, To cut down hundreds of pines Was it worth severing its bloodline?

Soon they’ll literally, bear no arms. A stump can’t hold any firearms. If it could, it would attempt to protect itself, From being crafted into a bookshelf. If a tree falls in a forest and no one is around to hear it, does it make a sound? Not in 100 years when there are no trees around. Who cares if a couple birds have to put nests on the ground? Funny that the tree becomes more valuable than gold Because no one will be able to build a household. All because people put on their blindfold To that horrors that will unfold Who needs oxygen in their lungs! Just stop going on runs, Probably need to buy a gun, It’ll probably be less painful than suffocating one by one. What happened? Why has the landscape blackened? I would have never imagined, That it would have been this rapid!

“Save the trees”? You asked? Hopefully this will be a valid forecast. For a future that has yet to be seen, Remember there’s no time machine. This is the reality, For our beloved tree.
