Planes & Axis

The purpose for this project was to construct 3 different 10x10 cubes with varying horizontal & vertical planes. The objective was for us to gain an understanding of scale and function in compact space.

Amenities within 1 mile

The purpose for this project was for us to create a site that is meant to tackle the homelessness crisis in any city of our choice. I chose downtown Seattle, Washington as I lived there for a while and experienced the crisis there firsthand. Displayed here is information and renderings of the specific location I chose which is in the Belltown region.

01 Golden Mean Bas Relief The purpose of this assignment was to further study the Golden Ratio along with, gaining an understanding of the double volume and the hierarchy created from its use.

02 Golden Ratio Color Plate

This assignnment was a follow-up to the Bas Relief. Its purpose was for us to be able to symbolize the hierarchy with the use of different tones of color.

The concept for this project was for us to create a model diplaying a project from finish to start. Each layer displays a different level of hiearchy in the squares.

Domino Pavillion Model The purpose of this assignment was to further study the Golden Ratio along with, gaining an understanding of the double volume and the hiearchy created from its use.

Nine Square Tangram The purpose of this assignment was to understand the use of planes & impled space. The solid parts of each plane imply the enclosed space while the cut part implies open space. The final work results in the last photo which shows the symmetry of each space

Figured Ground

The purpose of this assignment was to understand figured ground theory. We learned the concept of the visual system which depicts the main object (the figure) and everything else that forms around it (ground).

Color Theory Plate

This assignment taught that use of primary and secondary colors. This plate depicts how they can work and apply to one another.

03 Color Theory Application This purpose for this assignment was to teach us how mixing and applying colors can create different textures.

Guest House Library Final The purpose for this project was for us to combine all of the assignments we had done throughtout the semester such as the Golden Ratio and our knowledge on how planes create space to create a Guest House Library model with a studiolo (a room within a room).

Guest House Library Final Displayed here is a plan of both the first and second floor of the model along with some hand drawn sections. The sections are taken in the central part of the model on facing the North direction and the other facing the west both displaying clear view of the library.

Connecting Spaces

The purpose of this project was for us to create 2 stacks of 3 cubes all designed differ ently and arranged variously. Displayed are two axonometric drawings each drawn opposingly along with, one plan view. This assignment taught us the figured ground theory along with, planes & spaces.

Connecting Spaces The purpose of this project was a follow-up to the previous assignment. We rotated the planes 90 degrees and combined them in various methods. This taught us the concept of interlocking spaces.v

Lego Building Model The purpose of this project was to teach us the basics when it comes to architectural drafting. We created a lego model and drew an elevation along with a regular isometric perspective and exploded isometric drawing.
