An Exciting Future For over 40 years, The Salvation Army of Livingston County has been the heart of compassion in our community, operating out of a small “temporary” building in Howell. Our dedicated staff has tirelessly served our neighbors, ensuring that help is always available to those who need it most. Now, we’re on the brink of an extraordinary new chapter! Starting September 2026, we will unveil our newly renovated facility on Dorr Road in Howell, a dream come true thanks to the generous support of donors like you through our Pathway to Dignity campaign completed in 2022. space will finally allow us to offer services we have long envisioned, such as showers, laundry facilities, and hot meals for the homeless and underserved. We’ll now have a state-of-the-art food pantry stocked with healthy, fresh options. While our ability to serve has been limited over the recent years due to space constraints, demand and need has increased. However, the new Dorr Road facility signifies more than just a building; it embodies our commitment to care for our clients—body, mind, and soul—while honoring their dignity. It’s about the valuable and important work we can now do with this space.

TRANSFORMING FOOD ACCESS While there are a few food programs in Livingston County, they often lack consistency and fail to meet the daily needs of our community. Our new building and commercial kitchen will allow for Monday-Friday hot meals. However, not everyone is able to make it during normal hours. We envision providing 24-hour access to healthy food choices with refrigerated lockers at our Dorr Road facility, and in the future, across the county. This innovative resource will empower working families, seniors, and those facing transportation challenges to access nutritious food outside regular pantry hours. Additionally, we envision a sustainable Community Harvest Garden on the new grounds that provides fresh produce, education and hope for our community. Your donation will help us transform the way we address food insecurity, making a positive and lasting difference!
SUMMER DAY CAMP AFFORDABLE CHILD CARE FOR ALL As school lets out, families face a struggle: juggling work while securing safe and affordable day care for their children. Our Summer Day Camp will fill this gap for families reliant on latchkey programs that disappear during the summer months. The Salvation Army has a proud history of supporting families—and we are eager to expand this vital service in Livingston County. With your help, we can ensure that no child is left without a safe place to thrive!
