About ARMOR Armor Protective Packaging® manufactures rust prevention and rust removal products that are clean, safe and easy. To protect metal and metal parts, we produce ARMOR VCI Nanotechnology™ -- that’s the formal name for our “secret recipe” of rust-preventing vapor corrosion inhibitors. ARMOR combines its VCI with materials such as paper or poly film, to create packaging supplies that offer the added benefit of rust prevention. Simply wrap or enclose metal parts in any ARMOR VCI product and quickly the VCIs kick into action to create a blanket of protection on the surface of metal that repels rust.

What is VCI?

VCI is an acronym for Vapor Corrosion Inhibitor. When you combine VCI compounds with ferrous or non-ferrous metal in an enclosed space like a bag, container, tool box, or storage bin, something magical happens. VCI molecules are released and they are attracted to the surface of the metal just like a magnet.

Even more amazing, the VCI molecules attach themselves to the surface of the metal and they form a thin, protective shield. Just imagine, it is like covering metal or metal parts with a warm, cozy blanket that keeps the rust away.

At ARMOR we have our own secret formula of VCI -- we call it ARMOR VCI Nanotechnology™. We combine ARMOR VCI Nanotechnology with materials like paper, poly film, foam or chipboard, to create packaging materials that protect metal or metal parts while they are in process, in storage or while they are being shipped. What makes ARMOR products so great is that they are a clean, safe and easy replacement for other common rust prevention methods like messy grease, oils or other protective coatings. ARMOR Products VCI Films ARMOR POLY® Description Rust-preventing film, made of high-tech resins, protects ferrous and non-ferrous metals both as a physical barrier against the elements and emits ARMOR VCI Nanotechnology™ which forms a protective shield on surface of the metal that repels rust.

DEFENDER™ Description Multi-layer film designed for rust prevention, barrier protection and increased puncture resistance.

Benefit Unique construction positions ARMOR VCI on the inside layer closest to metal parts; offers high performance using less material; saves on cost.

Application Provides a tough physical barrier against the elements and long-term protection for metals in storage or shipping.

CRUSADER™

FOUNDRY Film™

Description Premium, multi-layer film protects metals even in extreme conditions and/or long-term storage.

Benefit Unique construction allows for added strength; durable moisture barrier; and positions ARMOR VCI on the inside layer closest to metal parts.

Application Best for metal parts/equipment exposed to the elements in storage or export or for longterm storage.

Description Film that protects metal from the hot/humid conditions in metal foundries, stamping plants, and machine shops.

Benefit Strong/puncture resistant, made partially from recycled material for increased performance at a reduced cost.

Application Use bin liners, bags or sheets to protect small/odd-shaped metal pieces.

SEA Film™

Description Heavy duty, rustpreventing film protects metal from the harshest of outdoor conditions.

Benefit Strong physical barrier is UV resistant and designed to withstand outdoor exposure.

Application Made for use in outdoor storage or for prolonged exposure to severe conditions in overseas export.

VCI Stretch Film VCI Paper ARMOR WRAP® Description This rust-preventing paper is infused with VCI (which stands for vapor corrosion inhibitor) on BOTH sides to eliminate confusion when applying. Wrap, enclose or interleave metal parts for clean, dry protection in storage or shipping.

Benefit Easy-to-use; environmentally safe, fully recyclable and repulpable, and offered in sheets or rolls of global, multi-metal protection and military-approved formulations.

Application Protects metals while in process, during shut downs or in storage, or in transport or shipping.

ARMOR POLY® VCI Stretch Film Description Double protect metal parts or metal cargo with ARMOR POLY® VCI Stretch Film to both secure parts with strong, punctureresistant stretch film and prevent rust and corrosion with VCI. Benefit Made using a premium stretch film that is durable, self-clinging, residue-free and recyclable.

Available in both a hand- and machine-grade, and contains the added benefit of ARMOR VCI Nanotechnology™ to protect cargo’s metal contents from rust and corrosion.

Application Wrap individual, large metal parts or equipment; band, bundle, fasten, tighten or unitize metal cargo on pallets, racking systems, or to enclose an entire container for shipping or transport.

ARMOR SHIELD® Desiccants

ARMOR SMARTY PAK™ Description The ARMOR SMARTY PAK™ is a supercharged, multi-tasking, rust-preventing powerhouse. SMARTY PAKs are one-part ARMOR VCI Nanotechnology™, which emit corrosion-inhibiting vapors to prevent rust, and one-part specialty desiccant to adsorb moisture.

Benefit Safe and easy-to-use; combined benefit of VCI and desiccant, mess-free and up to 24 months of continuous protection. Also comes in a variety of sizes including: NANO, MINI and QUAD. Application Use in environments were both moisture control and VCI are essential; nondusting and lint-free option when fibrous packaging materials are not allowed; protect metal/metal parts when packaged, during storage or in transport.

Description Desiccants are drying agents used to reduce the humidity and moisture in an enclosed space.

ARMOR offers desiccants that range in size from .5 grams to 2,500 grams in clay, silica gel or calcium chloride.

Benefit Safe and easy-to-use, both adsorbs moisture and holds on to it-desiccant does not re-release it; reduces and maintains lower humidity level within packaging for an extended period of time.

Application Use for moisture management during short or long-term storage of metals or during domestic shipping or export.

Rust Preventative (RP) Liquid

VCI Emitters ARMOR VCI Emitters Description ARMOR infuses a range of carriers such as polyurethane foam or chipboard with VCI Nanotechnology™ to create a line of rustpreventing emitters. When placed in an enclosed space, ARMOR emitters give off VCI to create a blanket of protection on the surface of ferrous and non-ferrous metal to repel rust.

Benefit Clean, safe and easy-to-apply; foam-pad emitters offer added benefit of cushion; VCI chips are infused on both sides for ease of use.

Application Protect small/fragile metal parts or electronics in packaging, cabinets, closed bins, boxes, storage and/ or shipping containers during inventory storage or shipment.

Dry Coat™ Description A water-based rust preventative for ferrous metals. Once applied to the surface of metal, Dry Coat dries-totouch leaving a clear, protective coating that is not sticky or tacky and protects metal stored indoors for up to one year.

Benefit Clean application; eliminates messy and hazardous oils and solvents; does not attract dirt or dust; reduces cost of labor and materials.

Application Spray, dip or flow coat Dry Coat on metal parts and when dry, it provides a clear, tackfree finish that is nearly undetectable. Does not interfere with advanced processing such as stamping, grinding, cutting, welding or burnishing.

Metal RescueÂŽ GEL Rust Remover Liquid/GEL Metal RescueÂŽ BATH Description Metal Rescue is a water-based rust remover designed for use with ferrous and non-ferrous metals. Designed to be used as a bath or a soak, it works on all levels of rust from light-to-heavy and does not etch or remove properties of the metal.

Benefit Eliminates exposure to harsh acids or alkalis, no scrubbing or wire brushing needed; easy, simple, three-step process of soak, check, rinse/dry; fume-free and easy disposal; reusable and good for up to one year upon opening.

Application Ideal for end users who remove rust onsite or supply chain partners looking to provide valueadded service. Once rust has been removed, leaves clean, bare metal ready for use or additional processing. Safe on other materials such as rubber, elastomers, plastic, vinyl, wood, glass, clothing and skin.

Description Metal Rescue GEL is your on-the-spot rust remover -- it is formulated to cling to metal. Designed to remove spot rust from iron and steel, GEL’s citricacid based formula is unique -- does not contain any harmful or corrosive acids, alkalis, or solvents.

Benefit Highly adhesive formula is simple to apply; no need to scrub, dip or wire brush. GEL is ideal for use on spot rust, vertical surfaces or rust in hard-to-reach areas. Controlled application eliminates waste and the risk of harming the area around the rust.

Application Ideal for end users who remove rust onsite or supply chain partners looking to provide value-added service. GEL does not compromise mechanical properties or functionality of metal. Once rust has been removed, result is clean, bare metal ready for use or additional processing.

Common Product Terms VCI, VPI, Volatile Corrosion Inhibitor, Vapor Phase or Contact Corrosion Inhibitor Many manufacturers refer to VCI using their own terminology or customcreated acronyms to describe their particular brand of VCI. They do this to differentiate their VCI from their competitors.

But don’t be confused, terms such as VCI, VPI and MPI are the same … but different. By that we mean, they are different names for the same thing -volatile or vapor phase corrosion inhibitors.
