In one of the bibles most epic and incredible stories, Scarlatti brings to life a tale of betrayal, courage, faith, and love. The story of Daniel in the Lion’s Den lay hidden in a library for centuries.
Unearthed by Armonico Consort, this treasure is one of the most dramatic oratorios ever set to music. Le Figaro (Paris) claimed that our last Scarlatti discovery was the greatest classical find of the century! We think this is an experience not to be missed.

PRE CONCERT TALK BY DR GEOFFREY WEBBER
BRAND NEW PROGRAMME!
The critically acclaimed Supersize Polyphony programme of choral music on a colossal scale, made Armonico Consort famous across the British Isles. Back with even more daring and adventurous staging in 20 – 40, and even 60 different voice parts, we will once again sing 360 degrees around the audience, totally immersing them in their sound!
In a BRAND NEW programme we feature many newly discovered works, most of which are rarely performed and some never recorded. This concert will also feature a world premiere by Hollywood composer (and co-founder of our education outreach) David Buckley.
If you loved the first instalment of Supersize Polyphony, you simply cannot miss this concert. As an extra treat, we will bring you Tallis’s Spem in Alium – surely the perfect way to kick off 2025!
Enjoy a tasty tipple recommended by our friend, wine expert Oz Clarke.
Exclusive to St Mary’s Warwick concerts
We are planning to make a recording of Supersize Polyphony 2 as soon as we raise enough sponsorship.
We would love to hear from you if you are interested in supporting.

Israel in Egypt is without a doubt Handel’s most spectacular choral showpiece. Almost certainly the most dramatic choral writing form the 18th century and Biblically epic, from graphic musical depictions of flies, frogs, hailstones, the river Nile turning to blood to the parting of the Red Sea.
For lovers of the lyrical and ornate choruses of Messiah and Dixit Dominus, this is definitely one not to miss, with soloists sung by the brilliant critically acclaimed 5* award singers of Armonico Consort.

If you are new to the Vespers, think of his divine Symphony no 2, but performed by voices, and you won’t even get close to how incredible this is! Just 110 years ago, what is widely praised as Rachmaninov’s greatest achievement and the greatest achievement of the Russian Orthodox Church was created. The composer managed to find a way of turning the choir into an orchestra, both texturally and dynamically. The music was so personal to Rachmaninov, that he requested the ‘Nunc Dimitis’, the fifth movement be sung at his funeral
In the exquisite late evening candlelit setting, be transported by what is simply the most gorgeous choral music ever to have been written, and for a moment in time, simply nothing else in life will matter.
