Composed in the final year of his life, and completed by Süssmayr in the following year, Mozart’s Requiem is one of the greatest choral works of all time, creating the inspiration for Requiem settings of the great composers for centuries to come. Whilst many view Handel’s work as being from a different musical generation to that of Mozart, his Music for the Royal Fireworks was written only 32 years prior, and the Coronation Anthems 20 years before that. The pairing of these masterpieces will create an epic programme celebrating these two incredible composers. Oh…and to add to the celebrations it will be Armonico’s 21st Birthday too!

The final work of Tomás Luis de Victoria and probably the greatest polyphonic work written, the Requiem or Officium Defunctorum, is an intensely expressive masterpiece. The mass in six parts was written in 1605 for the funeral of the daughter of Spanish Emperor Charles V and represents the pinnacle of both Victoria’s art and Spanish Renaissance polyphony. The music communicates the emotional gravitas of the text with profound sensitivity, rendering the masterpiece one of the most deeply moving works ever composed.

Singing has been proven to be beneficial in helping people living with dementia to unlock their memories and re-establish cognitive pathways. Our weekly singing sessions, led by specially-trained musicians are about bringing people together in a fun, friendly and safe environment. They can help build new friendships and boost confidence, helping people to feel more positive and supported.
The sessions are open to anyone living with dementia or other neurological conditions, but participants need to be accompanied by a carer.

MEET THE ARMONICO TEAM
We are happy to support Armonico Consort’s work with young people in the community of Foleshill, Coventry, where NP Aerospace is proud to be based. The company was set up in 1926 to produce moulding for Viscose Rayon spinning machines and went on to producing brake servo mouldings for the automotive industry in the 1960s before entering the defence market in the 1980s. NP Aerospace is a significant employer in Coventry with over 160 employees.
We currently stage approximately five concerts a year at St Mary’s Church in Warwick and are looking for someone to assist the charity by preparing the performance area and audience seating for our classical music concerts. This role(s) would be suited to enthusiastic and friendly individuals and may include some heavy lifting; a keen interest in music would be a plus.
We depend upon our fantastically supportive volunteers who assist with a wide range of exciting activities as part of a warm, welcoming social network within the communities around us.
