BONE REGENERATION - TUNNEL GRAFT CASE STUDY

PROCEDURE CASE BACKGROUND Female 60 years old Non-smoker Non-contributory medical history Case performed by EthOss Dr MINAS LEVENTIS DDS, MSc, PhD

1. Initial clinical view. Note thin residual bridge and atrophy of the soft tissues.

2. Vertical incision made distally to lateral incisor. Using a thin periosteal elevator, a subperiosteal tunnel was created.

3. 1cc of EthOssÂŽ injected into the tunnel using a graft gun.

4. Clinical view immediately post-op.

5. 12 weeks post-op. Adequate soft bone regenerated enabling implant placement. Note expansion of the new bone.

6. Additional grafting with EthOss.

7. Tension-free closure.

8. 4 months post-op. Note augmented ridge and thick keratanized soft tissues.

9. Penguin ISQ measurement showing excellent stability for all implants (ISQ: 70-71).

10. Prosthetic implant abutments in place, torqued to 35 Ncm.

11. Final cement-retained restoration.

INDICATIONS: For emergency relief of pain by self administration in conscious haemodynamically stable patients with trauma and associated pain, under supervision of personnel trained in its use and for the relief of pain in monitored conscious patients who require analgesia for surgical procedures such as the change of dressings. CONTRAINDICATIONS: Use as an anaesthetic agent; renal impairment; renal failure; hypersensitivity to fluorinated anaesthetics (including familial history of hypersensitivity); cardiovascular instability; respiratory depression; head injury or loss of consciousness; malignant hyperthermia. PRECAUTIONS: Not to be used as an anaesthetic agent; liver disease and liver damage after previous methoxyflurane or halothane anaesthesia; diabetic patients (may have an increased likelihood of developing nephropathy); daily use of methoxyflurane is not recommended; treatment with enzyme inducing drugs (e.g. barbiturates); cautious use of adrenaline or nor-adrenaline during methoxyflurane administration; caution in hot climates (do not expose to temperatures above 40°C, especially when used in conjunction with oxygen); use in pregnancy, the elderly and regular exposure to health workers. INTERACTIONS: Antibiotics including tetracycline, gentamicin, kanamycin, colistin, polymyxin B, cephaloridine and amphotericin B; subsequent narcotics administration; ß-blockers. ADVERSE EFFECTS: With analgesic doses - euphoria, drowsiness, sleepiness, agitation, restlessness, headache, dizziness, dissociation, amnesia, cough, choking, hypotension, nausea, vomiting, hepatitis, increased liver enzymes, increased serum uric acid, urea nitrogen and creatinine, blurred vision, diplopia and nystagmus. Hepatic toxicity in association with methoxyflurane is rare. DOSAGE AND ADMINISTRATION: Up to 6 ml per day, vaporised in a PENTHROX® Inhaler.

Designed for soft-tissue surgery, the STT ceramic tissue trimmer is a rotary instrument that can be used as an alternative to electrosurgery and surgical blades. The biocompatible hard oxide point is said to cut tissue without burning.

Applications include modeling gingiva, opening the sulcus for impression, freeing deep cavities, lacerating inter-radicular granulation-tissue, removing gingival hyperplasia/papillectomies, and exposing intra-osseous implant sections and retinated teeth.
