Sikkel has maintained a productive research program by integrating undergraduate and graduate students at each step, beginning with field data collection and completing projects through the dissemination of results. Sikkel’s research focuses on how environmental changes in coral reef systems impact the interaction between coral reef fishes and their parasites off the coasts of four different continents.

One of the largest urban parks in the state, Craighead Forest Park is an oasis of mountain biking and trail running. The 692-acre park includes a 60-acre lake for canoeing, kayaking and stand-up paddle boarding. You can even overnight camp in the – wait for it – Craighead Forest. The park has helped host the Jonesboro Open, which is a part of the Disc Golf Pro Tour, three times on its disc golf course.

From Turtle Creek Mall and all the usual national brands to fun and funky local boutiques that feature the latest fashion trends, you can find most of what you are looking for in the growing shopping areas located near Red Wolf Boulevard and what the locals call “the old fairgrounds.” And if you cannot find it, just turn the page for more about the region.

JUST IN CASE... DOWNTOWN RIVERWALK

If you feel the urge to get out of town from time to time, A-State is right in the middle of four major metro areas and surrounded by some of the greatest natural attractions like the Buffalo River National Park, the foothills of the Ozark Mountains, and some of the world’s greatest fishing areas.

TAKE THE ACT/SAT SEVERAL TIMES TO RAISE YOUR SCORE.

Typically, students’ scores increase when they take the ACT/SAT multiple times. The higher your score, the more opportunities you may be eligible to receive! ARKANSAS STATE ACCEPTS YOUR ACT/SAT SUPER SCORE. An ACT/SAT super score is a composite score that is made up of your highest individual subscores from various test dates. These best individual subscores are then averaged to create a brand new, higher composite ACT/ SAT score. Make sure you send A-State your scores each time you take the test. We’ll calculate a super score for you!
