U.S. ARMY

RANK: SERGEANT

YEARS: 1966-1969

PLACE SERVED: VIETNAM

Commercial Bank And Trust Company

Head of Maintenance

Carl Barnett was on the verge of getting into trouble. He didn’t exactly know what he wanted to do with his life, but he knew he wanted to travel. He joined the Army in hopes that he would get stationed in Germany, Japan or some other exotic place that many people who are born and raised in rural Arkansas never get to see.

He was sent to fight on the frontlines in Vietnam.

The conditions on the ground were brutal when he arrived. Barnett was assigned to a mobile infantry unit. It constantly rained in the hostile country and everyday was a struggle to determine who was a friend or foe.
