Senate President Bart Hester, R-Cave Springs, has spent the last decade roaming the halls of the state capitol. As the leader of the Arkansas State Senate, he gets to manage the 35-member body on a daily basis. That involves making sure the atmosphere is conducive for collaboration, collegiality, and on occasion, conflict resolution.

Hester, who is active in real estate in construction in booming Northwest Arkansas, touts himself as a small government conservative and has been a consistent sponsor of legislation to lower taxes and reduce regulatory burdens on business. Also, his legislative priorities include bills to improve foster care and adoption services.

Representing Senate District 33, he is a 2001 graduate of the Sam Walton College of Business at the University of Arkansas with a bachelor's degree in Business Management. And, there is a little known fact about Hester: he lettered for three years for the Razorbacks’ varsity baseball team and often notes that he was “the best bullpen catcher in the SEC.”
