WELCOME TO APSEC 2017 arkansasalumni.org | 479.575.2801
491 N. Razorback Road, Fayetteville, AR
“I hope you will embrace your time here as you learn, laugh and grow with some of the greatest colleagues that I have ever had the honor to know.”
Senior Walk is the University of Arkansas’ longest tradition in miles as well as years. The University of Arkansas campus in Fayetteville is the only college with a Senior Walk.
Arkansas is an exceptional place. Our nickname, The Natural State, is evident in a land of seven national park sites, 52 state parks and over 600,000 acres of lakes. The state’s economy is diverse from the rice fields of the delta, the timberland and oil in the south, to the national and global industries of Northwest Arkansas. Our greatest resource is our people – visionary educators, politicians, economists, philanthropists and entrepreneurs – and 73,788 are University of Arkansas alumni. As a land grant and flagship institution for the state, the University of Arkansas holds a lot of responsibility and expectation within our state. The University of Arkansas has been recognized as the seventh fastest growing university in the country. We currently graduate more than 6,500 students each year and host a student body of more than 27,000. Because of this substantial growth, we are also seeing great changes and opportunities within our alumni scope and reach. Our addressable alumni base has increased from 109,137 in 2010 to 135,891 in 2017.
Welcome to the University of Arkansas
As a native Arkansan in the alumni business, I am often reminded that despite our growth, at the heart of it all is our people – and in Arkansas everybody knows everybody! This is a reminder that life is built upon relationships and that you are never working with just one person. As alumni professionals, our work should be about creating lasting relationships. We are in the legacy business. Coming together over these next few days, we are here to build relationships, share knowledge and promote lasting alumni programs to strengthen our associations across the SEC. I hope you will embrace your time here as you learn, laugh and grow with some of the greatest colleagues that I have ever had the honor to know. Arkansas, specifically Northwest Arkansas and the University of Arkansas, is what it is today because of people, relationships and legacies started many years ago. May the inspiration of visionary Arkansans set us on a path of growth and learning as we continue to build the legacy of the SEC. Brandy Cox, CFRE Associate Vice Chancellor and Executive Director Arkansas Alumni Association
