OUR HISTORY - THEN
Modeled after the Texas Rangers, the Arizona Rangers were created by the Arizona Territorial Legislature in 1901. They were created to deal with the infestations of outlaws and rustlers in the sparsely populated Territory of Arizona, especially along the Mexican border. The Rangers were an elite, well trained, and secretive agency
mounted on the best horses money could buy and
well equipped with modern weapons at State expense.

OUR HISTORY - NOW
Re-established in 1957 by a few surviving original Territorial Arizona Rangers, the present day Arizona Rangers were
officially recognized by the state of Arizona in 2002, when Arizona Governor Jane Hull signed Legislative Act 41. The
purpose of this act was “to recognize the Arizona Rangers, who formed in 1901, disbanded in 1909 and reestablished in 1957 by original Arizona Rangers.”

WHY SHOULD I APPLY TO BECOME AN ARIZONA RANGER?
ARIZONA RANGERS
SUN LAKES COMPANY
Those who wear the uniform of an Arizona Ranger do so for many reasons: some because they want to be part of something bigger than themselves, others want to give back to their community, while others feel a sense of pride when pinning on the badge. Why you joined is not as important as who you are as an Arizona Ranger. When you leave your home and step out into the public while wearing the uniform of an Arizona Ranger, you are a representative of every Ranger that has come before you and every Ranger that currently serves with you, as well as a representative of how the Arizona Rangers will be viewed in the future. You are also, for all intents and purposes, perceived as law enforcement officers, whether they be local police, state officers, marshals or a county sheriff.
WHY SHOULD I APPLY TO BECOME AN ARIZONA RANGER?
Becoming an Arizona Ranger, however, is more than just the wearing of the uniform; it goes much deeper than that. Your uniform represents responsibility, history, pride, and respect, but mostly it represents a willingness to serve. Although you will always be Bob, Jane, Mike, or Joe beneath the uniform, you will also become an ambassador for all law enforcement. Your presence, your demeanor, your attitude not only tell the public who you are as an individual but also who and what the Arizona Rangers are.
