What’s The Fusion?
fu·sion
noun: Combining two or more things to form a single entity
The Fusion of Music Music and Memory The Local Scene
Fusion blends multiple musical styles to create new and different genres. The evolution of music is a vast topic, but this constantly changing sonic framework shapes our cultural landscape from generation to generation.
Musical Fusion
Examples:
• Jazz is a significant example of music fusion in the U.S. in the early 20th century.
• Soul Jazz becamepopular in the fifties by combining traditional jazz with blues, gospel, hard bop, and R&B.
• Country Rock emerged in the early 70s from bands like The Eagles and Linda Ronstadt, combining folk, country, and rock.
• Electronic Music is a broad category that mixes computer-generated sounds to form popular genre like Electronic Dance.
Regardless of your musical abilities, become involved with the music scene. You may contribute to the amazing evolution of music!
Music triggers powerful emotional responses by activating different parts of the brain. People like Tony Bennet suffered from severe Alzheimer’s but could still perform an entire repertoire of songs and lyrics well into his 90s.
People often associate songs or artists with major events like a date, wedding, or that first kiss. Music written in different keys can evoke feelings. Major keys tend to sound upbeat and happy. Minor keys create mellow or sad moods.
Enough history! What about the current live music scene? It’s off the charts! Pun intended.
Tucson has many thousands of active musicians at all levels across the spectrum of musical genres. On any given day, local talent can be found performing at hundreds of venues in the greater Tucson area.
So, what’s the big deal with live music? A phone with earbuds is the same thing, right? Well, no. Although listening to recorded music can be stimulating, the emotional experience isn’t the same as attending a live music event with friends. Music creates strong social and cultural bonds that can range from comforting to exhilarating.
The ultimate experience is to appear on stage. Tucson has many organizations to help amateur musicians improve their musical and performance skills.

Food Introduction Discovering Tucson hidden Chefs in the first UNESCO City of Gastronomy in North America
Wesley Source
Host/Producer/Co-Founder
The Tucson Tasty Show is dedicated to showcasing the finest restaurant, most talented chefs, and creative minds that are creating the most TASTY things to eat, drink or experience here in Tucson. As we are hyper focused on Tucson’s Food culture we have started to uncover what an amazing city it truly is. We’ve experienced Tucson through a different lens. A road less traveled, like Tucson Knife Fights, Iron Chef of Tucson, Down to the most iconic figures that make Tucsons Food scene so Tasty.
As we begin this journey, we had to dive into what UNESCO was and why Tucson has held this designation since 2015. Along with such iconic locations as the Taj Mahal and the prestigious Giza pyramids. Why Tucson? What we found was not only inspiring, but brought a new light to why Tucson is such an incredible place to live. As the founders of The Tucson Tasty Show originally from Tucson, being born and raised; they have been to every tourist spot or attraction that you can think of.
We also remember such nostalgic places such as Breakers Waterpark, Justin‘s Waterworks, and Gordos Mexican restaurant. All places that are dearly missed by those of us old enough to have experienced and enjoyed great memories in these places. We were
The Tucson Tasty Show dives into the meaning behind the prestigious title of UNESCO City of Gastronomy and what make Tucson worthy of such a historic designation. Join us on KGUN 9, The CW, FOX11, KVOI AM 1030 The Voice as we discuss origin stories, historic restaurants, and legends of the old West.
for lack of better words, surprised when we found out that the UNESCO rating actually has nothing to do with the food culture in Tucson. Instead, it has everything to do with being a historic heritage site. We then discovered that we owe it all to the Tohono O’odham Tribe and the incredible people in the Tribe that have continuously grown and propagated amazing agriculture in the Tucson area for more than 4000 years! The hard work and dedication to keeping this designation has been marginalized or misunderstood by our residence here in Tucson. The exhaustive work that went into first securing this designation can literally fill books. For more information check out https://tucson. cityofgastronomy.org, and get the information directly from the source. Not only a great resource of information but insight into such incredible places and food!
With our latest discovery, we’ve realized that we’ve embarked on a journey that’s as vast as the Arizona desert itself. Our mission? To not only spotlight the mouthwatering cuisine of Tucson, but also to honor the vibrant culture that seasons it. The Tucson Tasty Show is more than a feast for your taste buds - it’s a deep dive into the history of Tucson, the birthplace of our delectable flavors. We often find ourselves marveling - and chuckling! - at the extraordinary tastes that the desert has
to offer. It’s a flavor expedition that outsiders can’t comprehend until they’ve savored it first-hand. Our mission is to illuminate the tireless efforts of the remarkable individuals in the hospitality industry who make every evening a culinary adventure. While we pass the torch to these culinary wizards, we’re eager to shine a spotlight on their work to ensure it’s no longer in the shadows.

Old Tucson Studios NIGHTFALL - REIGN OF TERROR
Terrifying new tasty bites are being offered up as a sacrifice to appease the spirits that haunt Old Tucson Studios starting Sep. 27th. As the residents of Tucson begin to awaken from their lazy summer days, they eagerly embrace the arrival of Fall weather and flavors of pumpkin spice. While the hallowed halls of the University once again echo with the footsteps of students, the thrilling spectacle of the football season has already begun. An evil has started to grow just outside of town. The mayor of Nightfall attempted to warn us all about our rising doom. An insidious darkness had clawed its way back from the void, raising its ghastly head to terrorize the poor souls standing tall against him. Though his efforts would be in vain, as he was carried away by the possessed residents of Nightfall to be locked away in chains. Leaving us with Mary Hyde, the Queen of Demons and wife to the infamous tormentor Jebediah Hyde. Fortunately, this year at Nightfall you won’t have to endure the haunts, the scares, or the clowns on an empty stomach. Thanks to Executive Chef Dillon Suttererfield, we have some incredibly Tasty bites to fill our stomachs. Chef Dillon is a Tucson area native Arizonian. He has worked at many restaurants in the Tucson area and has curated the perfect menu for all who brave the streets of Old Tucson Studios Nightfall: Reign of Terror this year.
At this year’s Nightfall at Old Tucson Studios Reign of Terror, guests can indulge in the mouthwatering Mesquite Smoked Turkey Legs, a standout bite that perfectly complements the festive atmosphere. These dino-sized turkey legs are slow-smoked to perfection using a taste of Tucson: mesquite firewood. This results in a tender, juicy meat that falls off the bone and a beautifully crispy skin that adds a satisfying crunch. As attendees explore the haunting experiences of Nightfall, these flavorful turkey legs serve as the perfect treat, bringing the taste of Thanksgiving to the excitement of Halloween. Whether enjoyed as a hearty snack while immersing yourself in the entertainment or as part of a full meal with classic sides, the Mesquite Smoked Turkey Legs
are sure to be a crowd favorite this season.
Every bite of the new pizza is a spooky symphony of textures and tastes, from the crispy, hand-tossed crust to the tender, juicy brisket pieces. The cheese melts perfectly, providing a creamy backdrop that complements the smoky brisket without overpowering it. The pepperoni adds a classic, spicy kick that rounds out the pizza’s profile, making it a favorite among both traditionalists and adventurous eaters alike. The Tucson Tasty Show cannot get enough of these innovative creations, praising Chef Dillon for his ability to blend traditional pizza elements with bold new flavors. As the word spreads, more people will flock to try the pizza for themselves, eager to taste the culinary magic that has been created. Each visit promises a new gastronomic adventure, making it clear that Chef Dillon’s pizzas are more than just Tasty.
As you bite into the Sonoran dog, you can almost hear the howls of approval from the werewolves
in the distance. The playful yet sophisticated combination of ingredients makes this dish not just a crowd-pleaser, but a culinary masterpiece that bridges the gap between comfort food and gourmet cuisine. The real magic, however, lay in the toppings. The pinto beans add a creamy texture that melds seamlessly with the crispiness of the bacon, while the jalapeños provide just the right amount of heat to tantalize the taste buds. The freshly chopped onions and cilantro give it a refreshing crunch, making each bite a delightful explosion of flavors. To top it off, Chef Dillon drizzles mayo over the top added a tangy zest that perfectly complements the savory elements of the dish. Whether you’re enjoying it under the moonlit sky or amidst the hustle and bustle of the graveyard, Chef Dillon’s Sonoran dog promises an unforgettable gastronomic adventure. So, gather your friends; maybe even a few supernatural ones, and indulge in this mouthwatering creation that might just be the talk of the town—or the pack!

As the school year begins, I would like to take this special moment to welcome you back to campus.
It feels like yesterday that I was a student at Howard University. I found forever friends, people who shaped me and supported me. I found my beloved Alpha Kappa Alpha sisters. Like many, college is when I started to become politically engaged. Together, we learned that progress happens in our country when young people fight for it.
Throughout my travels as Vice President, I love talking to young leaders. I am continually amazed by your grit, your perseverance, your intellect, and your deep passion for making our world better.
It is because of the record turnout among college students in 2020 that I am Vice President today. And to win this election, I need your support.
This November, so many of our fundamental freedoms are at stake. The freedom to vote. The freedom to live safe from gun violence. The freedom to love who you love, openly and with pride. The freedom to breathe clean air and drink clean water. And the freedom to make decisions about your own body.
Later this semester, you will have the opportunity to vote in an election that will decide the future of our country. You will have the power to shape our future. To continue to build the country you want to live in—one where your fundamental rights are protected—by taking to the ballot box and making your voice heard.
Your vote has never mattered more. When young people fight for progress, it changes the course of our nation. I believe in you. I am inspired by you. And I am rooting for your success.
Sincerely,
Vice President Kamala Harris
