These holiday apartments offer private luxury living space with a sophisticated street presence. Located in the centre of Port Douglas, the seven apartments have either two or three bedrooms, including a penthouse with rooftop pool. Embracing the tropical setting, a covered walkway over a private rainforest bridge leads to each front door.
Each apartment has been designed to maximise the feeling of light, while embracing tropical living through light materials, water features and timber accents. Proudly created to be as eco-friendly as possible with solar panels, battery storage and smart technology, the single-stacked stepped design captures natural airflow which generates passive cooling and reduces the use of air conditioning, hence reducing electricity bills substantially.

The main objective of the project was to create a unique and low-cost home no larger than our needs, based on the principle that the best way to build more sustainable homes is to build smaller ones. The container house invites you to live in a simple and free way. A connection with nature is made with large windows, wich connects the interior with the exterior.
The house has less than 30m2 and contains a large rainwater tank and photovoltaics to create electricity, which allows it to be completely self-sufficient.

POST PANDEMIC CITY
A PROPOSAL FOR MIXED USE DEVELOPMENT ON THE CONDOMINIUM SAO LUIZ, A CORPORATE BUILDING IN SAO PAULO, BRAZIL.
The project presented highlights the health crisis caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, which brought changes in social behaviour and the way of producing and living in cities. With the adoption to working from home during the pandemic, the reformulation of commercial buildings shows itself extremely important.
So as a result, this project brings the requalification for the São Luiz building, which is located in São Paulo’s principal commercial hub. The project brings de requalification of the existing project, readapting spaces for different uses than the original, contemplating a new way of living and working. The building was inaugurated in 1984, designed by architect Marcello Fragelli with Burle Marx’s landscaping, an icon of modernity and suitable for requalification.

The existing building have 13 floors, wich is occupied by offices, 2 basements with 177 car spaces and the ground floor wich have coffee shopp, bank and a bycicle parking.
The existing building facade is composed by concrete and glass windows.
Sao Luis’s building requalification is a solution for the traffic and sectorization that is present in its area. Also, the project brings high-quality habitation for young people who migrate from the outskirts of town to the central region of the city to work and study.
The project brings a deep renovation to the building, maintaining its structure and landscape while displacing everything else.
The project encourages more diversity in its intervention territory, through different types of use, which ensure the presence of people circulating the condominium at different times of the day.

The helipad is replaced by a swimming pool. The Burle Marx’s landscape is maintained and improved in a way that all the streets have access to the ground floor, which is made active with public areas.
The application of glass on the facade allows the entrance of natural light, reducing electric lighting and saving energy. As well creates a visually stimulating and productive environment for building occupants, while reducing as much as one-third of total building energy costs.

• The brise soleils are replaced by a photovoltaic curtain wall, which generates enough energy to make a self-contained building.
• 910 photovoltaic plates were used on the project’s facade, which supplies 167,830 kW per year.
• 3,250 tonnes of CO2 are going to be avoided in 35 years.
• Its slab is covered with vegetation, which captures rainwater and takes it to the reservoirs.
• The same happens on the ground floor, where water is collected and used in the garden.
• 132 barrels of oil per m² are going to be saved in 35 years.
