In July, ARHA, the Birmingham City Council, Alabama Career System Center, and Jefferson Country District Attorney Danny Carr partnered to host a career fair targeted specifically for the restaurant and hospitality industry. Over 100 people participated in the career fair at Boutwell Auditorium in downtown Birmingham. Attendees were able to meet and apply for various positions with local restaurants and hotels.

ARHA’s Tuscaloosa Chapter partnered with The Chamber of Commerce of West Alabama, Alabama Department of Rehabilitation Services, and Tuscaloosa Tourism & Sports to host an informative meeting regarding workforce development.

The 2021 AAHOA Regional Conference & Trade Show was held in September in Birmingham. ARHA participated in the trade show and President & CEO Mindy Hanan was a guest speaker. In August, ARHA, along with the Huntsville/Madison County CVB and Von Braun Center hosted a hospitality and restaurant career fair.

The ARHA Foundation hosted a Fall Educators Workshop at Wind Creek Hotel in Atmore. Thirty ProStart instructors attended a management and hospitality workshop on Sunday evening followed by a networking dinner. The next morning, the educators took part in a hands-on mock ProStart competition in the hotel’s Kitchen Culinary Studio.

ARHA President & CEO Mindy Hanan and U.S. Senate candidate Katie Britt were guest speakers at the 2021 AAHOA Women Hoteliers Town Hall Meeting in October.
