Where to Find it The Peabody Hotel and Statehouse Convention Center are located at No. 1 Statehouse Plaza and 100 East Markham Street.

Meeting Rooms: The program indicates individual sessions and meeting rooms.

• Peabody Hotel – Registration and displays will be located in the pre-convention and lobby areas of the mezzanine floor level.

The Ballroom, Hoffman and Manning meeting rooms are also on this level. The Arkansas Ballroom is on the lobby level. Most breakout meetings will be held in the Peabody Conference Center, which is located at the north end of the lobby level of the hotel.

• Statehouse Convention Center – located adjacent to the Peabody Hotel, Hall I will be the site for the Presidents’ Awards Breakfast, Women’s Luncheon and Sew With Cotton Fashion Show, and the Voting Delegates’ Breakfast. Located in the west end of the facility, the Fulton; Izard; Pope; Miller; and Caraway I, II and III will be the site for Sew With Cotton registration and judging and district caucuses, all on Thursday, Dec. 1.

For your convenience, shuttle service will be available from outlying hotels (Wyndham, Holiday Inn Presidential, Courtyard Marriott and Doubletree) for all three days of convention. Shuttle service times are as follows: • Wednesday, Nov. 30, 9:30 a.m.–6:30 p.m.

• Thursday, Dec. 1, 6:15 a.m.–6:45 p.m.

• Friday, Dec. 2, 6:30 a.m.–1:30 p.m.

In an effort to relieve the congestion when leaving the Peabody for dinner during the annual convention, the hotel has arranged for shuttle service to transport county groups to a number of area restaurants. Restaurant shuttle service will run from 5:45–9:30 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday. No sign-up is necessary. When your group has gathered, simply go to guest services and let them know the number of passengers in your group and which restaurant you are going to.

Special Events FARM BUREAU WOMEN’S LUNCHEON & COTTON FASHION SHOW: Noon, Thursday in the State House Convention Center, Hall I. Great food and a great cotton fashion show.

Tickets can be purchased at the information desk for $15 each.

YF&R DISCUSSION MEET FINALS: 3:15 p.m., Wednesday in the Conway Room of the Peabody Conference Center. The Discussion Meet simulates a committee meeting where discussion and active participation are expected from each participant.

Winner will receive use of a Kubota tractor with front-wheel assist and loader for one year, courtesy of Kubota, and the choice of a Honda 500 ATV or a Kawasaki 550 Mule, compliments of Southern Farm Bureau Casualty Insurance Company.

The winner also receives an expense-paid trip to the American Farm Bureau Convention in Honolulu to compete in the national discussion meet.

YF&R ACHIEVEMENT AWARD CONTEST: The winner of the competition will be announced at the Awards Program during the Thursday afternoon general session. This program is designed to reward young farmers and ranchers (age 18 to 35) who are active in Farm Bureau and in their communities. The winner will receive a Ford F150 4x4 Crew Cab Truck, courtesy of Southern Farm Bureau Casualty Insurance Company, and will represent Arkansas at the national contest in Honolulu.

AG IN THE CLASSROOM SILENT AUCTION: From 10 a.m.–5 p.m. Wednesday and 8 a.m.–3:30 p.m. Thursday in the Manning and Hoffman Rooms on the Peabody Mezzanine Level.

Proceeds from this auction, sponsored by the ARFB Women’s Committee, will help support Ag in the Classroom programs.

Items won in the auction can be picked up after 4 p.m. Thursday in the Peabody Ballroom Lobby.

COUNTY GROUP PHOTOS: County group photos will be taken in the area adjacent to convention registration in the Grand Hall Lobby. Times are: 5–6 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 30 and 11:45 a.m.–1:30 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 1.

YF&R EXCELLENCE IN AGRICULTURE AWARD CONTEST: The winner of this competition will be announced at the Awards Program during the Thursday afternoon general session.

This program is designed to reward young farmers and ranchers (age 18 to 35) who are active in Farm Bureau and in their communities, but who are not full-time farmers. The winner will receive a John Deere lawnmower, courtesy of John Deere Inc. and Arkansas John Deere dealers, and a John Deere 4X4 Gator, provided by Farm Credit and Farm Bureau Mutual Insurance Co. of Arkansas, Inc. The winner will also represent Arkansas at the national contest in Honolulu.

CARDIOVASCULAR SCREENINGS: Stroke Detection Plus, a state-of-the-art vascular screening company and Arkansas Farm Bureau ValuePlus partner, will offer its services to convention attendees in the Arkansas Ballroom on the Peabody Lobby Level from 10 a.m.–5 p.m. Wednesday and 8 a.m.–4 p.m. Thursday. Appointments are necessary and can be made by calling 877-732-8258.

Four different tests are available. They are $45 each when purchased separately, but $99 when purchased as a package.

This price is exclusive to Arkansas Farm Bureau members and is substantially discounted.

Screenings are available for: Stroke: This screening uses ultrasound imaging to scan the carotid arteries, along each side of your neck, to detect narrowing or blockages. The buildup of fatty plaque in these arteries can lead to a stroke.

Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm: This comprehensive screening uses ultrasound imaging to scan and measure the abdominal aortic vessel, right above your belly button, for the existence of an aneurysm that can rupture and possibly be fatal.

Peripheral Vascular Disease: This screening measures blood flow through the peripheral arteries in the arms and legs and checks for blockages from plaque.

Osteoporosis: This painless ultrasound screening measures the density of your skeletal system, looking for low or abnormal bone mass.
