Safety In the interests of public safety all visitors to the Racecourse should follow directions of the Safety Stewards on the Stands and the Race Day Staff throughout the Racecourse. Please do not leave bags or your possessions unattended at any time as this could cause a security alert. It is an offence to be drunk at a sporting event and for this reason people clearly under the influence of alcohol will be asked to leave the racecourse. Racegoers are requested to be particularly aware of their personal safety in all areas where they come into close contact with the horses, such as the parade ring and the horse walks.

First Aid The First Aid Room is located at the top end of the Pre-Parade Ring. General Although everyone is welcome at Worcester Racecourse, we do reserve the right, in extreme circumstances, either to refuse admission or to eject any person from the racecourse. Horse & Jockey Welfare at Worcester Nothing matters more to us when racing than the safety and welfare of both horse and rider. Central to that is the track itself and our groundstaff do everything in their power to provide an optimum racing surface. On duty today we also have a dedicated and experienced team of highly-qualified Vets, Doctors and Paramedics following the action at every stage. Their key responsibility is to monitor and provide care to the competitors throughout their time at the racecourse. The locations and vehicle movements of these skilled specialists during racing are designed to provide a rapid response to any incident across the site. We also have a high-specification horse ambulance in attendance at every fixture to enable safe transport of a horse from the track to our on-site veterinary treatment facility for further treatment, or to the nearest equine referral hospital.

Seating/Viewing Racegoers are requested not to stand in the marked gangways on the Grandstand Steppings as this will compromise safety. Vehicles On The Course Please note that several vehicles containing the doctors, vets and officials will be travelling around the Centre Course area during each race. For this reason and in the interests of safety, visitors in the Centre Course enclosure are requested to remain within the defined enclosure. Wireless Transmitting The use of any wireless transmitting and/or receiving apparatus other than the official circuit is prohibited at all racecourses. Failure to comply could result in your removal from the racecourse as per our terms and conditions of entry.

It is our standard practice to erect screens around any horse or jockey requiring attention on the course as this provides privacy and a safe, calm environment in which to accurately diagnose and treat the patient as necessary.

Star Ratings Explained Each horse has been given a star rating, these are defined below: HHHHH Selected to win the race. HHHHI Good chance of being placed. HHHII By no means out of the reckoning but at least one or two hold stronger claims HHIII Unlikely to win but not totally without hope. HIIII Can be given little or no chance.

OFFICIAL BHA RATINGS EXPLAINED The BHA Handicappers allot ratings to horses once they have taken part in a sufficient number of races to enable the Handicappers to make a numerical assessment of each horse’s ability. The principal purpose of the ratings is to determine the weight to be carried by each runner in handicap races, with the Handicappers aiming to provide each participant with an equal chance based on its best recent form under its optimum conditions. A horse rated 100, for example, would be set to carry 1lb more than a horse rated 99 (ignoring any penalties or allowances). The ratings published in the racecard for handicap races are the ratings that were used to calculate the weight to be carried by each horse, whilst in nonhandicaps races the rating shown is that of each runner at the time that the entries for the race were confirmed. Any subsequently published change to a rating, either up or down, is shown in brackets following the rating. For novice steeple chasers, the latest hurdle race rating may be shown until such time as the Handicappers allot a separate steeple chase rating. Such ratings are prefixed by the letter h.

You must be 18 or over to place a bet You may be asked to provide proof of your age when placing a bet If you cannot produce this your bet will not be accepted

A recent C&D outing should have set up KALLY DES BRUYERES nicely for this and he can show he’s still on a favourable mark. Alex Hales has his team in great nick so the returning Away For The Night may provide the chief threat. A point win suggests Double Indemnity may take to fences and he’s next on the list. 1-2-3: 1.KALLY DES BRUYERES (FR) 2.AWAY FOR THE NIGHT (IRE) 3.DOUBLE INDEMNITY (IRE) KEY colours

Race preview from Weatherbys It is an absolute pleasure to be sponsoring the Paul Ferguson’s Jumpers To Follow Novices’ Chase at Worcester this afternoon and, whilst a field of just four are set to head to post, it is a strong and very intriguing contest. Nigel & Willy Twiston-Davies are enjoying a terrific spell at the moment, the yard going great guns, and stable star Potters Charm makes his chasing debut here over just shy of three miles. The sevenyear-old sets a lofty standard on hurdles form, officially rated 153; winning the Grade 1 Formby at Aintree as a novice and taking the Grade 2 National Spirit Hurdle in impressive style at Fontwell last season. He finished fourth in the Grade 1 Long Walk Hurdle over three miles last year and has always appealed as a strong stayer, so should have no problem with this trip, and he has the potential to be a smart novice chaser. He has undergone wind surgery over the summer and regular pilot Sam TwistonDavies is once again in the saddle. The Dan Skelton yard also continues to fire in winners this month and the team rely on Jupiter Des Mottes here, who makes his stable debut having previously been trained by Lucinda Russell & Michael Scudamore and then by Nicky Richards last season. A progressive hurdler, the Castle Du Berlais WEATHERBYS RACE PREVIEW

gelding won his last two in handicap company, latterly at Perth from a mark of 128. A stout stayer over the smaller obstacles, he attempts chasing again after being beaten on his only start over fences at Carlisle at the start of last season and should appreciate this sort of test. Seven-year-old Vicomte Le Brave makes his rules debut for Cynthia Woods, having proved effective over three miles in points. An impressive winner of a maiden at Tullaherin back in April, he must bounce back from a pulled-up effort at Ballindenisk when last seen but is tried in first-time cheekpieces.

Stable star Potters Charm makes his chasing debut here over just shy of three miles. Glen To Glen rounds out the field for Nick Scholfield and Kielan Woods and is turned around quickly here after running at Chepstow on Saturday in the Paul Ferguson’s Jumpers To Follow “Four Years Old” Hurdle. He perhaps went too quick out in front and faded away but reverts to chasing stepped right up in trip here. A winner at Perth over fences in August, and third in a good race here at Worcester last month, his experience could prove valuable in this field.

B g Court Cave (IRE) - Matt Wood (IRE) JDJ Racing Br M. Kinsella

Tristan Durrell Dan Skelton, Alcester

TIMEFORM VIEW Irish point winner who scored twice in staying handicap hurdles last season and was going the right way in the spring. Should make his mark over fences, although Harry Skelton has seemingly plumped for Big Cadillac here. TFRHHHII BHA118

B g Order of St George (IRE) - Elephant Island (IRE) Ciaran Gethings Mr J. Perriss Kim Bailey & Mat Nicholls, Cheltenham Br Pat O’Donovan Kim Bailey Racing Ltd

TIMEFORM VIEW Placed in a bumper and fair form when reaching the frame in maiden/novice hurdles at up to 3m last season. Will need to jump better than he did when last seen at Chepstow now chasing on return though yard should have him ready and he’s interesting. TFRHHHII BHA116

TIMEFORMVIEWBeat now useful Gentleman Toboot on bumper debut but didn’t fulfil his potential over hurdles last season. Stoutly-bred point winner could come into his own now going chasing, however, and he looks the stable first string on jockey bookings. TFRHHHHI BHA115

TIMEFORMVIEWLanded a hat-trick of 2 1/2m wins at Uttoxeter and this track earlier this season.
