WELCOME

Together

with glamour, atmosphere, excitement and plenty of celebration, Ladies Day is back!

Today is our biggest meeting of year, a real showcase event and a massive social occasion, as well as a sporting one!

A very warm welcome to our feature sponsor of today, FBC Manby Bowdler, who have kindly supported this fixture for many years. We also have Storm Windows celebrating their 25th Anniversary with us today who are sponsoring the third race. We thank you enormously for the continued support you provide us and wish you both a great day. More details of what FBC Manby Bowdler and Storm Windows can offer can be found within the race card.

Back with us today are St Richard’s Hospice, who have attended this fixture for over 20 years. We wish you all a very enjoyable day with us; full of fun and celebration. In aid of a fantastic charity, they will be carrying out a bucket collection so if you can spare any change, please do drop some in.

As always, we will be running the Style Awards Best Dressed Competition. For a chance to be in the running for the £500 prize, look out for our spotters who will invite you to the flower wall for a picture and a chance to enter the competition. The competition will close just before the 4th race.

After racing head over to the Centre Course for some great live music from The Bigboy Band Reunion, who will be playing the greatest boy band hits and back by popular demand, DeeJay Spence will be hitting the decks to finish the day off.

On the track we have 8 exciting races, of which we wish all our runners, riders, owners and trainers the very best of luck today. Our grounds team have been working flat out to get the track in a great position for this highlight of our calendar year

We, as a team here at Worcester wish you the best raceday experience today and most of all, we thank you for supporting us. We do hope you will join us again at the home of Summer Jumping throughout 2025. Please visit our website and social for more details of what is happening here on course! Have a great day with us and good luck! We hope to see you again for our next raceday on Thursday 12th June.

Horse & Jockey Welfare at Worcester

Nothing matters more to us when racing than the safety and welfare of both horse and rider Central to that is the track itself and our groundstaff do everything in their power to provide an optimum racing surface. On duty today we also have a dedicated and experienced team of highly-qualified Vets, Doctors and Paramedics following the action at every stage. Their key responsibility is to monitor and provide care to the competitors throughout their time at the racecourse. The locations and vehicle movements of these skilled specialists during racing are designed to provide a rapid response to any incident across the site. We also have a high-specification horse ambulance in attendance at every fixture to enable safe transport of a horse from the track to our on-site veterinary treatment facility for further treatment, or to the nearest equine referral hospital.

It is our standard practice to erect screens around any horse or jockey requiring attention on the course as this provides privacy and a safe, calm environment in which to accurately diagnose and treat the patient as necessary

Please do not assume the worst if screens are erected around a horse. We are fully committed to minimizing risk in our sport, to dealing professionally and efficiently with any injury, and to maintaining the highest possible quality of care for the horses and jockeys racing here today To find out more about our Equine Welfare policy, please visit our website www.worcester-racecourse.co.uk.

Professional filming and photography takes place here at Worcester Racecourse for various publications and broadcasting, and racegoers (including families) consent to being filmed, photographed and otherwise recorded by Worcester Racecourse or any third party authorised by Worcester Racecourse, and therefore you grant Worcester Racecourse and any third party authorised by Worcester Racecourse the right to broadcast, publish, licence and use any photographs, film, recordings or images of you without payment or other compensation in any promotional literature produced by Worcester Racecourse.

Safety

In the interests of public safety all visitors to the Racecourse should follow directions of the Safety Stewards on the Stands and the Race Day Staff throughout the Racecourse. Please do not leave bags or your possessions unattended at any time as this could cause a security alert. It is an offence to be drunk at a sporting event and for this reason people clearly under the influence of alcohol will be asked to leave the racecourse. Racegoers are requested to be particularly aware of their personal safety in all areas where they come into close contact with the horses, such as the parade ring and the horse walks.

Seating/Viewing

Racegoers are requested not to stand in the marked gangways on the Grandstand Steppings as this will compromise safety

Vehicles On The Course

Please note that several vehicles containing the doctors, vets and officials will be travelling around the Centre Course area during each race. For this reason and in the interests of safety, visitors in the Centre Course enclosure are requested to remain within the defined enclosure.

Star Ratings Explained

Each horse has been given a star rating, these are defined below:

HHHHH Selected to win the race.

HHHHI Good chance of being placed.

HHHII By no means out of the reckoning but at least one or two hold stronger claims

HHIII Unlikely to win but not totally without hope.

HIIII Can be given little or no chance.

OFFICIAL BHA RATINGS EXPLAINED

The BHA Handicappers allot ratings to horses once they have taken part in a sufficient number of races to enable the Handicappers to make a numerical assessment of each horse’s ability. The principal purpose of the ratings is to determine the weight to be carried by each runner in handicap races, with the Handicappers aiming to provide each participant with an equal chance based on its best recent form under its optimum conditions.

A horse rated 100, for example, would be set to carry 1lb more than a horse rated 99 (ignoring any penalties or allowances). The ratings published in the racecard for handicap races are the ratings that were used to calculate the weight to be carried by each horse, whilst in nonhandicaps races the rating shown is that of each runner at the time that the entries for the race were confirmed. Any subsequently published change to a rating, either up or down, is shown in brackets following the rating. For novice steeple chasers, the latest hurdle race rating may be shown until such time as the Handicappers allot a separate steeple chase rating. Such ratings are prefixed by the letter h.

PLAY SMARTER

The Dante is often the key middle-distance Derby trial and the unbeaten PRIDE OF ARRAS, who was well on top at York can become the sixth runner this century to complete the double. He has a very similar profile to the last horse to do it, Desert Crown, who was also making just his third start here, and seems sure to stay this longer trip, while 2 of his 3 siblings are Epsom winners. 2000 Guineas hero Ruling Court is the one to beat if he stays, with Delacroix the pick of Aidan O’Brien’s trio.

British racing has reduced the number of horses that fall by a third and fatalities to 0.25% of 90,000 yearly runners.

Despite a whopping rise from the handicapper, last time out winner Faded Fantasy should still be in the mix if in a similar mood
