WELCOME BACK to Worcester Racecourse for the start of our 2023 racing season

Our range of bets

Our range of bets

As you may have noticed, there are a few changes around the racecourse. At the end of last season, we started work on the new Weighing Room facility which we hoped would be ready for today.

Sadly, the weather has seriously impacted the work that has been taking place across our off season. Whilst significant flooding of the racecourse site is not uncommon during the winter months, the River Severn has run at particularly high levels on a number of occasions this year, encroaching on to the footprint of the development as per the image below.

Whilst the work now continues apace, we will today be using the temporary Weighing Room facilities that we used throughout last season, and our thanks go to the Jockeys, Valets and Officials with whom we have cooperated on this project.

We appreciate the slight difference that you’ll see in the Racecourse over upcoming fixtures, but very much look forward to opening the new Weighing Room as soon as we can later this summer.

As ever, if you have any questions, please do not hesitate to get in touch with me.

Michael Thomas, General Manager Worcester Racecourse

LONGEST TRAVELLER: PURE THEATRE trained by A Honeyball, Beaminster, 116 miles.

LATINO FLING took advantage of a further easing in the weights at Aintree 2 weeks ago and remains on a good mark up 4lb Pure Theatre was always holding on when making a winning handicap bow at Fontwell so is feared most.

LONGEST TRAVELLERS: BANNISTER trained by T R George, Slad, 39 miles. PILLAR OF STEEL trained by Henry Oliver, Kinnersley, 39 miles.

It was hardly a deep race that PLAYTOGETAWAY won at Huntingdon in April, but he was value for extra over the result and appeals as the type to go on improving for a while yet, so is difficult to oppose in his follow-up bid. LONGEST TRAVELLER: AMALFI BAY trained by A Honeyball, Beaminster, 116 miles.

The market should reveal plenty here but AMALFI BAY is taken to build on his promising start for Anthony Honeyball and get off the mark in this sphere. Hurdling-newcomer Ruler Legend is feared most, especially if the betting vibes are positive after his absence, while Painless Potter has the form to play a major part if this switch to hurdling sparks a resurgence.
