WELCOME & MEET THE TEAM
I am delighted to welcome you to our James Bay Live after Racing fixture at Worcester Racecourse. We would particularly like to thank our sponsor Amodil for their generous support of the race meeting and hope that everybody enjoys the evening. We have a good number of fixtures to look forward to over the summer, with various themed days including our popular Family Fun Day on Sunday 19th June as well as our Irish Night on Thursday 14th July. We offer a superb value package for advanced group bookings, hospitality boxes, marquee and restaurant facilities as well as a very versatile venue for non-race day events such as conferences, weddings and parties. Or why not consider the benefits of getting involved with the action on the track by sponsoring a race? Visit our website for full details on how to contact us (www.worcester-racecourse.co.uk). Most of all, we thank you for supporting us today and hope you enjoy your day with us. We do hope you will join us again at the home of Summer Jumping for our Family Fun Day on Sunday 19th June. Star Ratings Explained Each horse has been given a star rating, these are defined below: HHHHH Selected to win the race. HHHHI Good chance of being placed. HHHII By no means out of the reckoning but at least one or two hold stronger claims HHIII Unlikely to win but not totally without hope. HIIII Can be given little or no chance.
OFFICIAL BHA RATINGS EXPLAINED The BHA Handicappers allot ratings to horses once they have taken part in a sufficient number of races to enable the Handicappers to make a numerical assessment of each horse’s ability. The principal purpose of the ratings is to determine the weight to be carried by each runner in handicap races, with the Handicappers aiming to provide each participant with an equal chance based on its best recent form under its optimum conditions. A horse rated 100, for example, would be set to carry 1lb more than a horse rated 99 (ignoring any penalties or allowances). The ratings published in the racecard for handicap races are the ratings that were used to calculate the weight to be carried by each horse, whilst in nonhandicaps races the rating shown is that of each runner at the time that the entries for the race were confirmed. Any subsequently published change to a rating, either up or down, is shown in brackets following the rating. For novice steeple chasers, the latest hurdle race rating may be shown until such time as the Handicappers allot a separate steeple chase rating. Such ratings are prefixed by the letter h.
You must be 18 or over to place a bet You may be asked to provide proof of your age when placing a bet If you cannot produce this your bet will not be accepted

GASTARA looked a big threat to Lord Bryan when hampered 3 out at Ffos Las last month and is well worth another chance to show his chase mark is workable, particularly as this slightly sharper test should help if anything. Peter Bowen’s hat-trick seeker can give him most to think about ahead of Royal Magic, who should find this a bit easier then the Aintree Class 2 he contested on his comeback. 1-2-3: 1.GASTARA 2.LORD BRYAN (IRE) 3.ROYAL MAGIC (IRE) KEY colours

GLAJOU isn’t the heartiest and has a mixed record over fences for Paul Nicholls, but he returns to this sphere on a potentially lenient mark following a break and is taken to capitalise. Master Malachy is respected in his hat-trick bid, while it’s too soon to be writing off Kolisi given his earlier progress.

HORSE WELFARE It is standard policy that in the event of a horse requiring veterinary treatment whilst on site, screens will be erected whilst a diagnosis of the injury is made by one of the three veterinary surgeons deployed around the course. The screens are designed to afford privacy during this diagnosis. Please do not always assume the worse, and at all times the horse’s welfare is our paramount concern.
