WELCOME

Winter Ladies’ Day – November 23rd 2025

A warm welcome to everyone to Royal Windsor Racecourse for the start of our Winter Jumps fixtures! It is great to have Jumps Racing here again for the second season and we are delighted to have added an extra fixture with the return of New Year’s Day racing to Windsor after a gap of nearly 30 years before the second edition of the Berkshire Winter Million with some highclass Jumps Racing returning in mid-January.

Turning our attention back to today, we are very excited to be using the racecourse’s famous figure of 8 track for Jumps Racing in the same way as we do for our Flat Racing season, after trialling an alternative track last year. The overwhelming feedback from trainers and jockeys was to go with the figure of 8 configuration, so it promises to be a fantastic day’s racing on the new layout In addition to the track changes, refurbishment work has been undertaken in the Weighing Room since the end of the Flat Season in September to modernise it and enhance the jockey experience, alongside meeting the new Minimum Standards set by the BHA.

Today’s fixture is Winter Ladies Day, so much like we do in the summer there will be a Style Awards taking place during the afternoon. We have a raft of fantastic prizes on offer from local suppliers as well as the chance to win a Royal Windsor Racecourse membership for 2026, so be sure to head to the flower wall behind the Tack Room to get your photo taken between gates opening and the 3rd Race Best of luck to all entrants!

With Christmas not far round the corner, Santa and his elves will be ready to welcome kids into Santa’s Grotto in the Tack Room with the mini Christmas market next door on the Lavender Lawn. A Penny Brass Band will help get everyone in festive mood by playing a variety of Christmas tunes

Enjoy your afternoon and be sure to put Royal Windsor Racecourse in your diary for New Year’s Day as the best way to kick off 2026!

OFFICIAL BHA RATINGS EXPLAINED

The BHA Handicappers allot ratings to horses once they have taken part in a sufficient number of races to enable the Handicappers to make a numerical assessment of each horse’s ability.

The principal purpose of the ratings is to determine the weight to be carried by each runner in handicap races, with the Handicappers aiming to provide each participant with an equal chance based on its best recent form under its optimum conditions. A horse rated 100, for example, would be set to carry 1lb more than a horse rated 99 (ignoring any penalties or allowances).

The ratings published in the racecard for handicap races are the ratings that were used to calculate the weight to be carried by each horse, whilst in non-handicaps races the rating shown is that of each runner at the time that the entries for the race were confirmed Any subsequently published change to a rating, either up or down, is shown in brackets following the rating

All owners can enjoy 20 syndicate badges at all fixtures, on all ARC tracks*

HORSE & JOCKEY WELFARE AT WINDSOR

Nothing matters more to us when racing than the safety and welfare of both horse and rider Central to that is the track itself and our groundstaff do everything in their power to provide an optimum racing surface. On duty today we also have a dedicated and experienced team of highly-qualified Vets, Doctors and Paramedics following the action at every stage. Their key responsibility is to monitor and provide care to the competitors throughout their time at the racecourse The locations and vehicle movements of these skilled specialists during racing are designed to provide a rapid response to any incident across the site. We also have a high-specification horse ambulance in attendance at every fixture to enable safe transport of a horse from the track to our on-site veterinary treatment facility for further treatment, or to the nearest equine referral hospital

It is our standard practice to erect screens around any horse or jockey requiring attention on the course as this provides privacy and a safe, calm environment in which to accurately diagnose and treat the patient as necessary. Please do not assume the worst if screens are erected around a horse We are fully committed to minimizing risk in our sport, to dealing professionally and efficiently with any injury, and to maintaining the highest possible quality of care for the horses and jockeys racing here today. To find out more about our Equine Welfare policy, please visit our website www.windsor-racecourse.co.uk

THE HARDEST GEEZER resumed progress when runner-up behind a class-dropper last time and he’s fancied to go one better. High Fibre’s Ascot form is working out well and he merits plenty of respect down in grade, while Aggagio remains on a handy mark if he can put it all together Another to note is Little Ledgend, who looks a likely improver on handicap debut for Olly Murphy
