Welcome everyone today to Royal Windsor Racecourse for our ABBA Racenight, the first fixture of a very busy month here at the racecourse. It’s hard to believe that August has come round already - it’s been a rollercoaster summer with many racedays taking place in sweltering temperatures, alongside the disruption of the Football World Cup, but the last two Monday Night racedays (Soul & Motown Racenight and Country & Western Racenight) were both truly memorable occasions with strong attendances and glorious sunshine showcasing Royal Windsor Racecourse in its finest light.
After tonight, we have a further five racenights this month, including the real Madness performing here on Thursday 13th August, where ticket sales are tracking very strongly and we are looking at a total crowd on the day in excess of 8000, with a high percentage attending the racing beforehand. The month culminates with our Closing Summer Saturday on Saturday 29th August with Mark Wright performing as DJ after the racing and on the track we remain quietly confident that one of racing’s most decorated and well-known thoroughbreds, Constitution Hill, will be running that day at Windsor in the August Stakes. It does appear that some rain is finally on the way over the coming week, which will certainly improve Constitution Hill’s chances of running here with more give in the ground
Turning back to today, we are very pleased to welcome back everyone who attended our Ladies Day back in June Due to the extreme weather at the time, we were obliged to move the racing back from an afternoon fixture to an evening one and as a result of this inconvenience for everyone, we agreed to offer everyone who attended complimentary tickets for this evening’s racenight, so we hope there will be a strong turn-out
We are excited to have our ABBA theme back here once again, always a crowd favourite, so be sure to bring your best dance moves and loudest singing voice to join in with their classics on the Paddock Lawn after racing!

OFFICIAL BHA RATINGS EXPLAINED
The BHA Handicappers allot ratings to horses once they have taken part in a sufficient number of races to enable the Handicappers to make a numerical assessment of each horse’s ability.
The principal purpose of the ratings is to determine the weight to be carried by each runner in handicap races, with the Handicappers aiming to provide each participant with an equal chance based on its best recent form under its optimum conditions. A horse rated 100, for example, would be set to carry 1lb more than a horse rated 99 (ignoring any penalties or allowances).
The ratings published in the racecard for handicap races are the ratings that were used to calculate the weight to be carried by each horse, whilst in non-handicaps races the rating shown is that of each runner at the time that the entries for the race were confirmed Any subsequently published change to a rating, either up or down, is shown in brackets following the rating.
