WELCOME Welcome everyone today to Royal Windsor Racecourse for a brand new theme this year with our Elton John Tribute Racenight. I, for one, am genuinely excited about the post-racing music this evening as ‘Elton’ comes here with rave reviews so I’m sure he won’t disappoint and everyone will be out there still standing on the Paddock Lawn for the after-party! As I mentioned in last week’s racecard, we were about to start our busiest week of the year with five major events at the racecourse in the space of 8 days, culminating in tonight’s racenight. The highlight last week was unquestionably the Madness Racenight on Thursday, taking place on the hottest day of the year with a crowd in excess of 8000 people. The team adapted to the conditions so well, as they always do, to ensure the horses were looked after in the best possible way with plenty of water at every turn, cooling fans in the stable yards, heading straight to the Parade Ring pre-race for the relative comfort of the shade from the trees and then unsaddling in there post-race. I was enormously proud of the way my entire team handled what could have been a very challenging day with great teamwork, communication and attention to detail. Aside from the Madness Racenight, we then hosted another 10,000 people in total over the next two nights for two large music festivals, so the racecourse has been a hive of activity this past week. Thankfully the temperatures have now started to cool down and like many others we are desperately hoping that our raindances will soon come to fruition! We are still clinging on to the hope that Constitution Hill might run here in the August Stakes on Saturday 29th August, with each passing dry day it becomes less and less likely, but whilst there’s life there’s hope! Thank you once again to today’s raceday sponsor, the sports betting exchange Matchbook, who are our principal raceday sponsor for the second successive Monday and we are delighted to welcome Matchbook’s Racecourse Representatives, Emmet Saunders and Lee Beauchamp. To everyone here tonight, have a wonderful evening and I wish you every success with any bets. Jimmy Wallace Executive Director

STAR RATINGS EXPLAINED Each horse has been given a star rating, these are defined below: HHHHH Selected to win the race. HHHHI Good chance of being placed. HHHII By no means out of the reckoning but at least one or two hold stronger claims HHIII Unlikely to win but not totally without hope. HIIII Can be given little or no chance.
ABBREVIATIONS BF - Beaten Favourite C - Course winner D - Distance winner CD - Course & Distance winner
OFFICIAL BHA RATINGS EXPLAINED The BHA Handicappers allot ratings to horses once they have taken part in a sufficient number of races to enable the Handicappers to make a numerical assessment of each horse’s ability. The principal purpose of the ratings is to determine the weight to be carried by each runner in handicap races, with the Handicappers aiming to provide each participant with an equal chance based on its best recent form under its optimum conditions. A horse rated 100, for example, would be set to carry 1lb more than a horse rated 99 (ignoring any penalties or allowances). The ratings published in the racecard for handicap races are the ratings that were used to calculate the weight to be carried by each horse, whilst in non-handicaps races the rating shown is that of each runner at the time that the entries for the race were confirmed. Any subsequently published change to a rating, either up or down, is shown in brackets following the rating. 5
