Royal Windsor Racecard - Monday 13th July

MONDAY 13 JULY

Al Basti Equiworld, Dubai the UAE’s leading distributor of horse feeds and supplements proudly sponsors the Owners & Trainers facilities at Royal Windsor Racecourse

WELCOME

Welcome everyone today to Royal Windsor Racecourse for our Rum & Reggae Racenight, always a popular fixture in the calendar

The mid-season break last week with no Monday Night Racing was a welcome break for many of the team, in what is proving a more relentless summer than usual here at Windsor given the ongoing heatwaves and the need to water the track on a daily basis Whilst there was no racing here, we did hold a 3-day music festival last weekend, so there was no let-up for several team members, and I am extremely grateful to all my team for the tireless work and commitment being shown in getting the venue ready and delivering multiple events back to back In June alone, we held 6 racedays and 16 non-racing events, and July is not looking too far behind, so the racecourse is definitely seeing plenty of activity!

Turning back to the racing, our last fixture was a wonderful evening for jockey Marco Ghiani, who rode 4 winners, including one of Windsor’s favourite horses, Lequinto, who raced away for his 8th victory at the racecourse - a truly remarkable feat. The horse is trained by Tony Carroll, who himself is enjoying a bumper summer at Windsor, with 10 winners under his belt and he has now opened up a huge lead on the Winning Trainer leaderboard at Windsor

On the subject of favourite horses, the Royal Windsor Racecourse Syndicate’s first horse, The Wicked Wolf, has been entered for tonight’s meeting I am typing this prior to declarations, so it is unknown whether or not he will be running, but with so many racecourse members and regular attendees owning a share in ‘Wolfie’, there is no question all eyes will be on him running on his home track! Wolfie, we wish you all the best!

We are delighted to have Levi Roots (from Dragons Den fame with his Reggae Reggae Sauce) here this evening to do a cooking display at 6pm in the Paddock Lawn marquee before showcasing his musical skills as he becomes DJ for the evening on the main stage after racing from around 9pm, so do please stay around to see him in action and enjoy dancing away into the night.

Thank you for coming along tonight, I hope you have a fantastic evening.

OFFICIAL BHA RATINGS EXPLAINED

The BHA Handicappers allot ratings to horses once they have taken part in a sufficient number of races to enable the Handicappers to make a numerical assessment of each horse’s ability.

The principal purpose of the ratings is to determine the weight to be carried by each runner in handicap races, with the Handicappers aiming to provide each participant with an equal chance based on its best recent form under its optimum conditions. A horse rated 100, for example, would be set to carry 1lb more than a horse rated 99 (ignoring any penalties or allowances).

The ratings published in the racecard for handicap races are the ratings that were used to calculate the weight to be carried by each horse, whilst in non-handicaps races the rating shown is that of each runner at the time that the entries for the race were confirmed Any subsequently published change to a rating, either up or down, is shown in brackets following the rating.
