As we enter the month of May, the Royal Windsor program steps up several gears with our first feature meeting of 2024, the annual Bank Holiday Family Fun Day providing extra entertainment for racegoers of all ages You’ll find the free funfair at the opposite end of the grandstand from the paddock lawn.
Whether it be the fair itself, the circus workshop or the face-painting, there’s plenty to keep the youngsters amused, but we also expect them to enjoy seeing the horses parade before their races, willing them over the winning line and, finally, watching them return to the winners enclosure with their triumphant jockeys.
There’s also a wide choice of delicious things to eat and drink, from our famous resident fish and chip shop to freshly made pizza in the Sprint Bar, as well as the special one-off options available across the enclosures as we make a further move towards the main part of the season at what we call “The Home of Monday Night Racing”.
This year our Monday themes include Irish Night (10 June), Summer Garden Party (17 June) and the Abba Party race night (1 July), with live music after racing. But Saturdays will also be a highlight - BBC Radio 2 DJ Vernon Kay will host our Summer Opening Party (25 May) with Chris Moyles (3 August) and Sara Cox (24 August) to follow later in the year
Bookings may be made for all meetings through our website www.windsor-racecourse.co.uk, with meal packages and tables in the panoramic 1866 Restaurant among the additional treats on offer. Make sure too to check out the “Royal River” package, which includes a delightfully unique method of arrival at the racecourse by riverboat from the town centre
This is the day when we welcome, among those of you who already visit regularly, the Royal Windsor racegoers of the future, many of them attending their first day at the races. We hope you will join us in becoming passionate fans of the sport of horseracing and that you will experience the exhilaration of cheering to victory the horses that you picked out beforehand

HHHHH Selected to win the race
HHHHI Good chance of being placed.
HHHII By no means out of the reckoning but at least one or two hold stronger claims
HHIII Unlikely to win but not totally without hope HIIII Can be given little or no chance.

The BHA Handicappers allot ratings to horses once they have taken part in a sufficient number of races to enable the Handicappers to make a numerical assessment of each horse’s ability.
The principal purpose of the ratings is to determine the weight to be carried by each runner in handicap races, with the Handicappers aiming to provide each participant with an equal chance based on its best recent form under its optimum conditions. A horse rated 100, for example, would be set to carry 1lb more than a horse rated 99 (ignoring any penalties or allowances).
The ratings published in the racecard for handicap races are the ratings that were used to calculate the weight to be carried by each horse, whilst in non-handicaps races the rating shown is that of each runner at the time that the entries for the race were confirmed Any subsequently published change to a rating, either up or down, is shown in brackets following the rating.

Both Paramer Angel and Storm Troupour have shown they retain enough ability to be effective at this lower level. Al-Hatab is likely to be still on the upgrade, though this trip is short of his best, he will strip fitter today. However the James Owen team remains in good form under all codes, and his homebred VICTORIA gained plenty of experience last term. She’s starting this season off a very workable mark and with the benefit of her regular partner’s claim and a first-time hood, should break her maiden here.
